We live in the 21st century, but tend to forget how far science and technology has gone, and what we have at our disposal as consumers of of those results! Here's a list of cool useful portable medical devices available on the market today.
Blood Glucose Meter. This medical device can be life of death for Diabetics. A simple home test takes 5 seconds, and reads the average blood sugar levels for the past 2 to 3 months.
Blood Pressure Meter. There are wrist meters and arm meters (which are more accurate). Very useful for anyone concerned with their blood pressure.
Blood pressure cuff. You can connect this device to an iPhone for a digital readout and store that info. if you'd like. How Awesome?!
Home Pregnancy Tests. This one's a very common in home device, that provides accurate results in the comfort of your own home.
Digital Thermometer. Another common device that's more accurate then it's glass mercury predecessor. The one on the right is to measure temperature through the ear.
Pacyfier Thermometer. How innovative! For those fussy babies who won't let you take their temperature.
Fingertip Pulse Oxymeter. This device can prove very useful for someone with lung desease like pneumonia. They are available on Craigslist for around $200 and drug stores carry smaller oxymeters for $50.
Utine Test Strips. This is truly a versatile and revolutionary device. You can test for things like diabetes, which the strips will read as too much glucose in the urine, or low pH (acidic urine), as well as kidney disease due to protein in the urine, and many other serious conditions.
Multi Drug Tips. This device uses urine to test for different drug content in the system. They include cocaine, amphetamine, THC (marijuana), opiate (morphine/ heroin), and PCP.
Personal Ultrasound Imaging Machine. This one's very cool but is too expensive for the average consumers, marketed mainly to doctors.
