Going into your 20's is an exciting yet scary transition. All of a sudden there's a whole different world ahead of you and you are responsible for succeeding in it. Well wasting you life on partying and "living like you'll die tomorrow" is total ridiculousness, and looking at your life with the perspective of an adult is what will help your 30's, 40's and the rest of your life be easier and something to be proud of. Here's 10 things you should strive to accomplish before hitting the big 30 in order to be a successful human being.
Accept that you're an adult. The 20's are a crucial transition from a teenager to an adult, and many people including myself have a tough time associating with that new title. Accepting that you're an adult now is going to help you stay motivated to achieve things, and prevent you form making stupid choices of partying and wasting your life away. So lets all declare "I Am An Adult!" :-)
Reestablish family connection. Some of us have been blessed with a stable and supportive family and some haven't. Regardless of your situation, it's great to be on good terms with your family. One day you'll have your own, and a good base and support is a must.
Maintain your body. Get into a routine of healthy eating and exercising regularly. "A healthy body yields a healthy mind". It gets tougher to stay in shape as we age, so the earlier you put that on you top priority list the better.
Find what you like doing. Okay this is a tough one...there are only a few lucky ones out there who can honestly say "I'm crazy about my job!". What's important is to find something that you will like doing, or that at least won't make your life worse, because once you turn 30, second chances aren't given out as freely.
Read regularly. People should never stop learning. Besides the obvious benefits of being a well rounded person, reading regularly provides the needed brain stimulation to keep your mind sharp, and prevents boredom. Less TV more books!
Establish friendships with people for the rest of your life. Surround yourself with a few good friends who can truly be in your life forever. Having a support system, reliable and good company is very important as we get older. So go ahead and invest some time into valuable relationships. New connections are hard to establish later on in life.
Clearly outline your life goals. Know where you're going, make a decision and stick with it. Plan your steps towards where you see yourself in 10 years.
Start saving up. It's never too early to start saving, the 20's are a perfect time to put away some foundation for what ever future might bring.
Keep your environment organized. How you live partially depicts who you are. If your place is in chaos, your mind is burdened and fuzzy. Keep your environment clean and organized and it'll make doing a lot of other things easier.
Support yourself. Well obviously it starts with a job, and eventually transforms into living on your own and paying for your own expenses. Have mercy on your parents, spread your wings and fly!
