“SantaCon is an annual event in which people dressed in Santa Claus costumes engage in bar crawls. It is also known as Santarchy, Santa Rampage, the Red Menace and Santapalooza. It originated in San Francisco in 1994 and has since spread to cities around the world, and now takes place in 300 cities in 44 countries, including New York City. London, Belfast and Moscow. The New York SantaCon is the largest, with an estimated 30,000 people participating in 2012”.

A couple dressed as Santa Claus run carrying a baby during a Marathon in Madrid. Around 6,000 people dressed as Santa Claus and his elves ran a “mini-marathon” through the streets to promote festive cheer as the country tries to emerge from a two-year recession. The race was organized by one of Spain’s leading department stores and it contributed 1 euro for each entrant to a charity that buys Christmas presents for deprived children around the world.
