YouTube prankster Rahat gave a homeless man a "winning" lottery ticket, setting him up for a $1,000 jackpot. The homeless man, identified now as Eric, was moved to tears — and even offered to share his small fortune. The video went viral, with strangers across North America asking Rahat how they, too, could help out Eric.
"I want to raise $20,000 to help better and improve Eric’s lifestyle. Eric is an extremely genuine person, and he deserves a lot more in life for his heart-warming personality," Rahat wrote on Fundly.
"All proceeds made from this campaign will be completely given towards helping Eric pick himself back up and get him going towards a respectable living once again."
Rahat met his fundraising goal, then promptly beat it. So far, more than $35,000 has poured in from more than 2,000 supporters.

Rahat revealed that he didn't just give Eric the cash and leave him on the streets after he was done filming:
"After the video I got him a hotel for two weeks."
The men have kept in touch since.
"I did meet with him yesterday. He told me that he got a haircut, bought ice cream for two girls, and got a pre-paid phone for emergencies," Rahat wrote after being asked what Eric is spending his new-found wealth on.
