Being incarcerated is a very serious thing. What many people don't realize, though, is that sometimes being in jail can be...enjoyable. In other countries, the jails and prisons make an inordinate amount of money from donors. They end up spending their money on things that are downright bizarre.
Bastoy Prison (Norway).
These poor prisoners must serve their time isolated in adorable little personal cottages overlooking a lake and beautiful scenic mountain range.
Suomenlinna Prison (Finland).
This "open" prison has no cells or locked doors. Inmates live together in houses and leisurely do construction and gardening work in a riverside town that looks like The Shire from Lord of The Rings.
Her Majesty’s Prison Wandsworth (Wandsworth, England).
These prisoners must contend with their own "award winning" radio station at this facility.
Halden Prison (Norway).
Mass Murderer Anders Breivik will be spending time here, which features a fully equipped recording studio. Can't wait to hear his full-length.
Cordillera Jail (Santiago, Chile).
Each prisoner has there own lonely estate, including a pool, a private shower and a barbecue pit.
Aranjuez Prison (Spain).
Prisoners are expected to serve their time under the judging eye of their loving families.
Jessup Correctional (Maryland).
Adorable old women come and torture the inmates by teaching them how to knit pretty hats and things.
Cebu Prison (Philippines).
Where the prisoners are forced to join a highly choreographed hip hop dance troupe.
