When developing an idea for a portrait series it’s always nice have some sort of unifying theme that ties it all together. This project was all inspired from a text message from my dad showing their two dogs sitting in the backyard, in what looked liked “timeout”. Both had just gotten home from being at the vet and both had the cone of shame on and both looked absolutely miserable.
Anyone who has ever owned a pet has most likely had to use an elizabethan collar, aka the cone of shame. It’s a necessary and beneficial part of the healing process but to them, it’s like being put in timeout. We’ve all experienced the emotional hardships that our animals have to endure while wearing the cone and I really wanted to showcase those trials and tribulations in this series.
