It turns out there’s something better than cartoon animals acting like people though — real animals acting like people. Granted, none of these guys are going to break into song, but that doesn’t mean we can’t pretend, because we have imagination. Deep within his garden, in Batam Island, Indonesia, photographer Uda Dennie is busy takes photos of a quite humorous sight - jumping spiders with water drops on their heads! The massive water droplets stay in place for about a minute, which is just the right amount of time for the 33-year-old to snap these shots. While most of us feel a bit squeamish when looking at macro photos of spiders, Dennie has somehow taken that uneasy feeling away, replacing it with curiosity and glee.

Candice Sedighan and her golden retriever Champ is what you can call a real dream team! 20-year-old photographer needs no other model when her dog has enough patience to sit still and pose even with a live butterfly on his nose. Candice got Champ from her dad back when she was 9, but it wasn’t until the age of 13, when she got her first digital camera, that the retriever had a chance to unveil just how photogenic it really was. “I really like to capture the true essence with dogs, which is that they’re always so happy,” she says. “The time Champ and I spend together, he’s just always beaming with happiness and you can really see that through my photos,” says Candice. And yes, every single picture radiates happiness and joy, and by seeing how enthusiastic Champ is, you can practically see the happiness on Candice’s face as well. Candice has already won several photography contests with the joyous pictures of Champ, some of the images were also released as greeting cards. Whether he poses as a pilot or a captain, wears a birthday cap or plays with soap bubbles, Champ makes you go “aww” with every picture. Don’t you just love seeing something so genuine and natural?

Playful Posters Feature Animals Around the World (6 photo)

UK-based illustrator Andy Ward created this Natural History poster series as a way for kids—and everyone—to learn about the animals of the world. Leo the Lion was originally developed for a children's book, but the little guy was set aside and sat on a shelf for almost ten years. Eventually, Ward pulled Leo off the shelf and, along with 15 other African mammals, the artist created the first poster of the series—Animals of Africa—which was then followed by Animals of the Arctic Circle and Animals of Amazonia. Finally, Ward blended all of the characters together to produce the Animalfabet in which each drawing represents a single letter of the alphabet.

Pulling wild faces was just enough for this baby leopard cutie to scare away a pack of ruthless jackals. Travelling the wilds of the African bush this little leopard family of a mum and two cubs ran into a SPOT of bother in the shape of greedy jackals looking for their next meal. Mum managed to grab one of her cubs in her mouth leaving its brave but pint-sized sibling to fend for itself while she carried the cub to safety.

In the latest issue of Ludique Magazine, the online publication all about mobile photography, you'll find a great little story about one of the most personality-filled pugs you'll ever come across. Seattle-based Jeremy Veach has been the proud owner of Norm, his four-legged friend, since the pup was just 8 weeks old (he's now 1 1/2). Soon after Jeremy got him, he started taking photos of the photogenic dog, inspired by some canine favorites like good 'ol Maddie, and began posting them on Instagram. (Jermzlee now has almost 24,000 followers.) Most hilarious are the "selfies" where it looks like Norm is taking a picture of himself. All in all, we can appreciate how owner Jeremy always changes things up, adding funny captions and even posing with Norm in a few of the shots. "He loves the pictures and gets really into it," Jeremy told Ludique. "And when there is something he doesn't like, I can tell, and I just will move on to a new idea." Now here are some of our favorite shots.

Controversy sells big time – and if you publish a book that in the reviews is called “so weird that it’s sort of irresistible” – then you’re doomed to go down the road of success. That’s what happened to a New Zealand author Burton Silver and illustrator Heather Busch, after the release of their comedy book “Why Paint Cats: The Ethics of Feline Aesthetics“, a collection of bizarrely colored portraits of cats. The book was designed to mock the current global obsession with cats. However, irony is not a universal strong suit of the cat lovers worldwide, so the book was both loathed as much as praised. The stunning retouching done on the cats was confused for real paint on their fur, which also added to the criticism. Silver and Busch strongly argue that none of the feline models was hurt during the making of the book, and all the vibrant colors and effects on their fur are made using Photoshop.

Sydney-based photographer Alastair Pollock has taken some happiness-inducing photos of Australian Fur Seals around Montague Island in New South Wales, Australia. His passion for underwater photography is evident in his ability to capture the large fur seals in some incredibly playful poses. In one of my favorite photos (above), he's taken a picture of a lone fur seal with bubbles coming out of his head. His clever caption? "Thought Bubble."
