Is any film more quoted on the Web than ‘Anchorman’? Even though it came out way back in 2004, the all-star cast of Will Ferrell, Paul Rudd, Steve Carell and pretty much every other hilarious comedic actor in Hollywood has made ‘Anchorman’ a cult classic.
The highly quoteable dialogue, courtesy of cowriters Ferrell and Adam McKay, doesn’t hurt either. Whether it’s Steve Carell’s dimwitted newscaster Brick declaring his love for “lamp” or the oft-referenced “Wow, that escalated quickly” (popular on message boards when fights break out), quoting from ‘Anchorman’ has become part of how we communicate on the Web.
"There were horses, and a man on fire, and I killed a guy with a trident."
-- Brick Tamland, after the newscaster rumble
"Oh Ron, there are literally thousands of other men that I should be with instead, but I am 72 percent sure that I love you."
-- Veronica Corningstone
"It's called Sex Panther by Odeon. It's illegal in nine countries. Yep, it's made with bits of real panther, so you know it's good."
-- Brian Fantana on his cologne
"You're so wise. You're like a miniature Buddha, covered in hair."
-- Ron Burgundy to Baxter the dog
