Damon Wayans, Jr. — who many may recall played Coach in the pilot for New Girl before bailing when his other sitcom, Happy Endings, was picked up — is now likely to return now that Happy Endings has been cancelled, according to TVLine. Moreover, Coach is set for a “significant” season three arc.
Wayans, of course, was replaced by Lamorne Morris’s Winston, who had a shaky first season but has recently been made a better, funnier character. The coach dynamic should certainly be an interesting one. Plus, for a “significant” portion of season three, an American network sitcom will have TWO BLACK PEOPLE ON THE SHOW AT THE SAME TIME. Oh wait, never mind.
Wayans, Jr. and Jake Johnson are currently in Atlanta filming a buddy cop Let’s Be Cops, because AWESOME.
