12 countries – 15 flights – 28,211 total miles traveled – 5 hotel night stays – 1 confiscated tripod – 7 wonders – 13 days. I fell 50-feet climbing in Yosemite, got hit by a car and then diagnosed with skin cancer, all in one month. Two weeks later, I decided to see the 7 New Wonders of the World in just 13 days with a new outlook on life: to live more now.

There’s no Make-A-Wish Foundation for dogs, but if there were, Nicole Elliot could be its CEO. The Columbus, Georgia resident recently adopted Chester, a cancer-ridden dog, from Animal Ark Rescue. When Eliot saw “hospice needed” posted by a charity, she decided to take the dog in to make his last days as happy as possible.

Athena Krueger was a lifelong planner. She had a successful career in software sales and a happy marriage. Her next plan was to become a mom. In October of 2012, a mother named Amy was diagnosed with stage 3C metastatic ovarian cancer. The diagnosis was a terrible one, but after surgery, 4 months of chemo and lots of struggling, it looked like things were beginning to look up.
Her cancer was in remission for only a year before she and her family received awful news. It was back, only this time it was resistant to traditional treatment. That means her cancer will ultimately be terminal.
