Copenhagen’s Distinct Architecture Knit into Color-Blocked Urban Landscapes by Jake Henzler
17 apr 2020 14:17

Instead of writing or illustrating a journal to record his excursions, Sydney-based artist Jake Henzler knits colorful memories of urban landscapes into huge pieces of art. The artist goes by the name of “‘Boy Knits World”’ on Instagram and crafts quilt-like panels of urban spaces that he comes across whilst traveling.

Here’s How Knitting Was Used As A Tool To Spy On Enemies During Wartime
29 jul 2019 14:14

It may come as a surprise, but knitting and war have a lot more in common than one may think. In many countries including the United States, wartime has almost always involved knitters. Back in the day, women were encouraged to support troops from home by knitting socks and hats for them. However, even though knitting has been always associated with an innocent hobby of older ladies, during conflicts, it became much more than that.

Extremely Chunky Knits By Anna Mo Look Like They’re Knit By Giants
16 jun 2015 14:42

Ukraine-based Anna Mo knits super chunky blankets with giant, three-inch stitches. This is the ultimate security blanket you can get lost in. She uses custom-made, two-inch-thick needles for her knits, which also include sweaters and scarves. Mo began knitting to have a hand-based escape from her head-based design job. No surprise then, that her work emphasizes its hand-made nature. The yarn wriggles with every huge loop, imperfections are magnified, and each piece has a unique flair. This...

Each and every item I made is important as single seed in pomegranate. I have a lot of fun creating them for someone to warm their heart. These are few of my crochet and knitted toy works. Made from various threads with care and passion.

Australia’s Oldest Man Knits Tiny Sweaters For Injured Penguins
12 feb 2015 08:42

How long does it take to master a craft? How about 80 years? Because 109-year-old Australian Alfred Date has been knitting since the 1930s and his latest/most famous endeavor was making mini sweaters… for endangered penguins! Back in 2013, Victoria’s Phillip Island Penguin Foundation asked for volunteers to make sweaters for the rare “little penguins.” Alfie, who has yet to learn to say no, pitched in.

She Just Knit With Giant Needles And Yarn
20 jan 2015 13:08

First, She bought six pounds of unspun wool roving, then She went to the hardware store and bought broomsticks to act as knitting needles. When the broomsticks were too small, She went back and bought 1.5″ diameter PVC pipe. She turned each five-foot length of pipe into “knitting needles” by adding duct-tape tips, and just started knitting. A few hours later, I had my Giganto-Blanket.
