Anna Coleman Watts Ladd was an American sculptor whose work changed many lives
13 aug 2018 11:09

World War I brought out the best and the worst of mankind and the people involved have been remembered either for the terror they brought or the compassion they showed. One of those compassionate individuals was Anna Coleman Watts Ladd, an American sculptor who moved to France with her husband in 1917. She created portrait-masks for severely injured WWI soldiers. Needless to say, her work changed many people’s lives

Vincent Lagrange, a photographer in Antwerp, Belgium, captured the human side of animals by taking serious and dignified portraits of the sort that us humans like to take of each other. His photo series is called “Human Animal.” “I tried to photograph the animals as humans, depicting their emotion and human-like characteristics in a sombre way,” Lagrange told Yatzer. And...

Overlooked Black Dogs Get Adopted With Beautiful Portraits
11 feb 2015 11:03

Black dogs can have a tough time getting adopted from shelters – perhaps because low-quality photos don’t do their adorable mugs justice. Optical Illusions Portraits

Optical illusions is just a fancy way of saying eye trickery, except it’s bigger words and harder to spell. This is a series of cray cray portraits, chock full of optical illusions aka eye trickery. The kinda stuff that’s gonna make your eyeballs be all “WAIT WUT?” and your brain say “This is too much for me to take in, I need a nap.” And is that what you want? IS IT? The person responsible for this madness is Ukrainian artist Oleg Shuplyak. Great job, Oleg! I mean, seriously? My eyeballs closed up shop indefinitely and my brain just packed up and left town. So thanks! Thanks for that.

I Photographed Transylvanian Elders Who Preserve Centuries-Old Traditions And Habits

English travel writer Patrick Leigh Fermor wrote in 1934: "Transylvania had been a familiar name as long as I could remember. It was the very essence and symbol of remote, leafy, half-mythical strangeness; and, on the spot, it seemed remoter still and more fraught with charms." This quote represents landscapes and places in this region so well. But this visual story is not about landscape. It is about the human soul.
