Since 2007, Jack Nicholson, one of the greatest actors of all-time, a man who once considered no amount of cocaine unsnortable and still believes no woman is unattainable, has only appeared in two movies: The Bucket List and 2010's mawkish How Do You Know. Unfortunately, the latter might be his last. According to Radar, the 76-year-old Nicholson is retiring from acting because of "memory issues." ("A redhead named Alice? Freckles? And she's pregnant? I don't recall sleeping with anyone with that name.") If true, the most magnificent of bastards has completed a filmography with at least a dozen all-time classics, including The Shining, Chinatown, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and Mars Attacks! Despite its three-and-a-half star rating on Yelp, Sava! Italiano was not a success. The Amarillo, TX-based Italian restaurant recently shut down, according to a closure notice outside the building, which reads in full: "You sorry assed, rednecked sacks of goat sperm had no idea what you had here! Good luck with your pre-packaged frozen shit food in this town. Maybe you’ll remember us when you’re boning your sister and think she smells like pasta. We really can’t handle the truth: Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson is retiring from acting. Nicholson, 76, quietly stepped down from a 50-year career. “Jack has — without fanfare — retired,” an insider told Radar Online. The rationale behind his decision has to do with his aging. “There is a simple reason behind his decision — it’s memory loss. Quite frankly, at 76, Jack has memory issues and can no longer remember the lines being asked of him,” the source revealed. “His memory isn’t what it used to be.” Nicholson, who was nominated for a record 12 Academy Awards for acting (winning three), will continue enjoying the spotlight — just not starring in it. “Jack has no intention of retiring from the limelight,” the source said, noting the Oscar winner’s regular courtside Lakers games and Academy Award presentation with First Lady Michelle Obama in February. “He’s not retiring from public life, at all. He just doesn’t want a tribute,” the source said. “He’s happy to tacitly join the retirees club like Sean Connery.” We’ll miss you, Jack!

The 16 Best Lines From The Season Premiere Of FXX's 'The League' (9 photo)

New station, new night, same old The League. Last night’s premiere of the FXX series may not have been as good as some of the best episodes of the series, but it was good to have the gang back in our lives (and as importantly, it signaled the arrival of fantasy football season). The premiere tried to do what last season’s rape joke episode did in taking something that would seem off limits, in the case AIDS, and turn it into a recurring punchline. The results were mixed to good, although the episode — as usual — hit its highs when Rafi was onscreen. He got an assist from Seth Rogen’s Dirty Randy (and Rob Huebel) and the Domination League (making us all the more excited for Dirty Randy and Rafi’s episode later this season). What's The Fox Say? The Most Informative Music Video Has The Answer. (1 photo + 1 video)

Please enjoy (or at least stare confusedly at) this music video, “The Fox”, from the Norwegian talk show I kveld med YLVIS. It answers the question, “What would happen if you made a schmaltzy pop song with high production values then devolved into silly animal sounds?” Nobody asked the question, but they answered it anyway. Sketch group Ylvis is the brothers Bård and Vegard Ylvisåker, who have been making surreal and funny stuff like this for the past 13 years. (Sidenote: “Bård Ylvisåker” is the Norwegianist name that’s ever Norwegianed.) Once in a while, something they make starts going viral outside Norway, like their “voice controlled elevator” pranks. This absurd video seems poised to be a crossover hit. The top YouTube comment is, “Play this at my funeral” and we’re inclined to agree.

As if it wasn’t bad enough for us guys that Parks and Recreation actor Chris Pratt was out there, bragging about how shredded he looks for his leading role in Guardians of the Galaxy, now we’ve got former teen heart throb and current 20-year old heart throb, Nick Jonas, posting his own shirtless selfie on Instagram, all in the name of “fitness.” The youngest Jonas Brother prefaced his photo with the caveat, “I never do this but…” to which Huma Abedin rolled her eyes and said, “Heard that one before.” But Nick is actually an inspiring idol, as he was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at 13-years old, and he has done a great deal of work to raise awareness for the disease, both through his own Change for the Children Foundation and with a variety of other organizations. Maybe next he can start a foundation for insecure bloggers who swim in their t-shirts. For other people, I mean. Not me. I’m ripped, too. Shut up.

In the near future, all photos will be selfies. It's best to accept this inevitability now. The front page of the New York Times. A picture of Barack Obama taking a selfie with Karolos Papoulias? Sports photojournalists will be obsolete, having been replaced by athletes whipping out their cellphones and snapping a quick shot while running for a touchdown. It's sad, but it's true, and already, the negative effects of the selfie are being chronicled on "Selfies at Serious Places," which aims to shame the kind of people who, well, see above. THUMBS UP FOR GENOCIDE.

Fantastic Manipulations Performed Before The Golden Age Of Photoshop (23 photo)

You’ll rarely see a photo today that hasn’t been manipulated, generously enhanced or overlayed with dozens of filters, but in truth this has been happening since the dawn of photography itself – its just that the process of manipulation has evolved. In the early 1800s and even through to the 1900s, if you wanted to alter your photo to create an illusion it was an incredibly labor intensive process. There was combination printing, photomontages and even overpainting – all took time and all had significant drawbacks. Which makes the following collection of fun and somewhat illusory photographs all the more impressive. They were created during an era where you genuinely had to be measured and considered in how you were adapting the film negative itself. There was no magical ‘undo’ button, just lots of trial and error and trying to adapt the technology as best you could. But its safe to say, thanks to the creativity of those involved, all of these images bear little resemblance to their original photographs – it’s amazing what a little magic can do isn’t it?

Our own Dan Seitz already wrote his defense of Madden NFL 25, but I want to take a look and listen to something that's much tougher to defend: the first Madden EA Trax soundtrack. It came back in 2002, when Marshall Faulk graced the cover of Madden 2003, and I'm already sorry for all future Audiovent references. Extraordinarily Odd Photographs From A 1972 Rothschild Party (20 photo)

There have been few dinners parties quite like it. It’s December 12 1972, the night at which Marie-Hélène de Rothschild held her famous Surrealist Ball at Ferrières. As you can probably guess by her surname, she was a member of the ultra-wealthy Rothschild banking family. Few made the guest-list but if you did, it was the ultimate seal of approval from Parisian high-society. The requirements for the evening were “Black tie, long dresses & Surrealists heads” nothing more, nothing less. In keeping with the theme, the invitation which she sent was actually written backwards – to read the invite you had to hold it up to a mirror. Now when money is no object, the only limit is ones imagination and it’s fair to say that Marie-Hélène certainly had plenty in supply. Firstly she insisted the iconic Château where the party was to be housed, be floodlight with sweeping amber lights, designed to create the illusion the building was on fire. Once instead, she made sure the entire staircase was filled with servants and footmen dressed as cats – all in various poses of sleep. And once you’d overcome that initial shock, guests were then forced to enter a hellish labyrinthine maze – where should you get lost, one of the “cats” would rescue you and whisk you away where you’d be formally greeted by Marie-Hélène herself. On this particular night, she was wearing a ginormous giant’s head that was crying tears of diamonds. Naturally.

Impressive Portrait Of Yao Ming Painted Using A Basketballd (3 photo + 1 video)

If you haven’t already guessed, we’re big fans of portrait art here on SBSG, but we have to admit it’s not every day you see artwork painted using merely a basketball! But that’s precisely the tool Malaysian artist Hong Yi used to create her portrayal of Chinese basketball player Yao Ming. Below is a time-lapse video of her bouncing the ball and bringing her creation to life using nothing more than red paint. Quite how she achieved such an impressive feat is still somewhat of a mystery, but then again that’s half the fun isn’t it? In her own words “I love to paint, but not with a paintbrush.”, she’s true to her word too. You can see the full range of her artistic experiments via redhongyi.com, there’s not a brush in sight.

The International Trailer For 'The Counselor' Looks Awesome (1 photo + 1 video)

In case you were wondering, Ridley Scott’s and Cormac McCarthy’s The Counselor still looks pretty ridiculously amazing. I know, I was also starting to worry that maybe the first trailer and clips were just an illusion and that I imagined the whole thing, but fortunately the international trailer was released this morning and now I feel a hell of a lot better. Javier Bardem still looks like your dad strung out on ecstasy in a mid-life crisis, while Brad Pitt is pretty intimidating as a long-haired cowboy. And Cameron Diaz looks better than she has in quite some time, probably because she’s being mean and I just love it when girls pretend like they don’t like me. “Here, have all of the money in my wallet,” I’ll say as she puts a cigarette out on my face. Anyway, enjoy the new international trailer.

A few years ago, Strikeforce Women’s Middleweight Championship challenger Gina Carano figured out that she was pretty and people liked her, so she stopped getting punched in the face for a living and started doing MMA fight scenes in movies like Haywire. UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Ronda Rousey’s is currently going through the same thing, starring alongside 40 60-year old men in The Expendables 3. One of the many conspiracy theories about Chris Weidman’s Middleweight Championship victory is that Anderson Silva threw the fight so he’d have more free time to make horrible-looking MMA movies. Hell, even Ken Shamrock was in Champions back in the day. MMA has proven to be a surprisingly-easy springboard into mainstream movie stardom, so it shouldn’t surprise you that UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon ‘Bones’ Jones suddenly wants to be an actor. Or that he wants to be like The Rock, who is in, like, 65 of the 67 movies released this year. “I’d like to model my acting career on Dwayne Johnson, the way he came out of [WWE] and started off tough guy roles and then moved over to doing ‘Tooth Fairy,’” the 24-year-old Jones told MMAjunkie.com during an appearance at the UFC’s “World Tour” in Los Angeles. “That’s when you really saw that he could act, and he’s the one I admire and respect a lot, so I know I’d love to model my acting career after (him).” Yes, we all really saw The Rock’s acting chops in Tooth Fairy, because being tough and wearing a tutu means “acting.” We saw Hulk Hogan’s acting ability in Mr. Nanny. But don’t think it’s all tough guy roles and then ballerina costumes for Bones. He’s going to ply his craft!
