Levitating Waters
Price: £199.99
One of the best optical illusions we’ve ever seen, this magic box can make it appear like water is drifting slowly upwards before your very eyes. You can even place a clup in the stream of droplets, and it will simultaneously fill up while the water appears to float out of the top.
Unfortunately, this isn’t an early home ant-gravity device. The effect is created by a mix of strobe lighting and precise water dispension, and it’s absolutely mindblowing. Still, at almost £200, this is a very expensive parlour trick if you just want to impress your friends.

Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knife
Price: £695
Ok, so this one doesn’t have the most most practical design of all time, and it’s not exactly pocket-sized. However, the Wenger Giant Swiss Army Knife does contain 85 full functional parts, and has the distinction of being the biggest commercially available Swiss Army Knife in the world.
Included in its beautiful body is a multitude of knives, a magnifying glass, a torch and a laser pointer. Of course, to go with its sizeable pricetag, it also contains a cigar cutter.

The Never Ending Slinky Machine
Price: £50
If you already own multiple Newton’s cradles and several varieties of stress balls, then the Never Ending Slinky Machine could be for you. Designed to keep a slinky in perpertual motion, the NESM is just about the ultimate toy for any slinky fanatic.
The machine can be powered by USB, and can keep a slinky tumbling throughout your working day. While 50 quid is a lot to spend on something that plays with your toys for you, it’s also not a bank breaker if you know a child (young or old) that has a fascination with spring-based objects.

The Easy Cut
Price: £45
The self-haircut device is usually one confined to the realm of mad scientists in quirky comedy films. After all, there’s just so much that can go wrong. If you’re happy with having one of four hairstyles for the rest of your life though, then the BaByliss Easy Cut is a real-life gadget that could be right up your alley.
Offering an even trim in any direction, the Easy Cut makes it easy to cut your own hair, from 1/8″ to 1/2″. It works in much the same way as an electric shaver, while accomodating for your head’s contours. The days of awkward conversation at the barbers are over!

Aquarium Sink
Price: $4,500
We always find ourselves bored when washing our hands. That minute or so spent each day can just be so tedius. Thankfully, someone else had this revelation, and decided to come up with the aquarium sink.
As the name suggests, it’s a glass sink that lets you keep fish in side it. Snarkiness aside, if we could choose one sink to have in our lives, without regard for cost, this would probably be it. Although that volcanic lava one we saw was also tempting.

4K Ultra Short Throw Projector
Price: $30,000 – $40,000
When this incredible device comes out later this year, we’ve no doubt that it’ll be the most desirable commercial projector available. As well as featuring stupidly detailed 4K projection capabilities, the Ultra Short Throw Projector is something of a beauty.
Designed to fit in seamlessly with the rest of your furniture, this style of projector certainly has the potential to overtake the comparatively old-fashioned television set’s place on the market. Or it would, were it not for the price, which is slated to range from $30,000 to $40,000. Ouch.

Cube 3D Printer
Price: £1195
What’s better than buying loads of crap that you’ll never use? Buying something that lets you print unlimited crap that you’ll never use! 3D printers are starting to become viable beyond industrial use, and the Cube 3D Printer is one of the first to be squarely targeted at consumers.
Though not as feature-filled as some of its competitors, the Cube 3D Printer makes up for it by being extremely easy to use. The possibilities are just about endless, from cups to playing pieces. If you’re genuinely thinking of getting one, you might want to read up on it first though, as the Cube 3D Printer is known for having high costs beyond the device itself, including the glue and design plans.

Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2
Price: $350 (Dev Kit 2)
Oculus VR have been in the news quite a lot lately, after being taken over by Facebook*. However, don’t let that distract you from the fact that the Oculus Rift is truly the first step in a brave new direction for interactive entertainment.
The Oculus Rift Dev Kit 2 allows for a wide viewing angle, with full positional head tracking. The vision-filling screen and precise tracking of your head movements, make you reall feel like you’re inside your games. The only reason this isn’t on our number one spot, is because we’d recommend waiting for the full consumer release instead of the less polished second development kit.

DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ Quadcopter
Price: £970
When it comes to sheer, mindblowing coolness, it’s hard to beat a quadcopter. These versatile, remote-controlled flying machines can perform extremely precise manouvres and easily navigate through tight indoor environments.
Our favourite commercial quadcopter has to be the DJI Phantom II Vision+. This feature-packed device comes with an HD video camera, GPS navigation and a gimbal for image stabilisation. This means that you can set the Phantom to hover in a fixed position in space, unaffected by light gusts and wind, while filming stable 1080p video.
The Phantom can be controlled using a smartphone or tablet, with the camera streamed live to the devices screen for accurate control. If the device exceeds its range of 2100 feet or so, then it will automatically fly back to a pre-ordarined GPS coordinate, land, and turn itself off.
