Last week, 17-year-old Taron Stead was out for a morning ride on his new mountain bike when he was suddenly struck by a silver car. Stead fell down and he was hurt pretty badly in the collision. The car in question stopped and driver did get out to take a look at the damage. However, instead of helping the bruised and bloodied Stead, the female driver got back in her car after telling him that she was already late getting her kids to school and she couldn't help because his bloody face would upset her children.
So far, the police have not been able to track the driver down. To drum up public support and put pressure on the mystery woman, Stead's mother, Naomi Pockard, released a photo this week of Stead right after the accident.
Here is corner where Stead was hit. Not long after the accident, staff members from nearby Sheffield University found Stead and called the police. Luckily, Stead was wearing his helmet. He credits it with saving his life.
