Banksy’s Girl With Balloon Is Sold For $1M, But Gets Immediately Shredded

Banksy’s painting Girl With Balloon is one of the best-known works of Banksy. The painting is a reproduction of the original image that was painted on a building in East London back in 2002. The worth of the re-painted and framed version of Girl with Baloon grew by 20% each year. Finally, this Friday, the painting was sold for a staggering amount of a little bit more than $1 million. Moments later a shredder started destroying the painting.

Banksy Sneaks Into Gaza To Create Controversial Street Art

Banksy, a street artist revered by thousands for his ability to express powerful messages and capture our attention, has finally addressed arguably the most controversial topic he could have possibly used his art to comment on – the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Gaza strip.

New Banksy Piece: "The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum"

A new Banksy piece has just been spotted in his hometown of Bristol. This time, the elusive street artist pays tribute to Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer's 1665 masterpiece Girl with a Pearl Earring. Of course, in true Banksy style, there's something a little off about the piece. The pearl earring (and the entire earlobe) has been replaced with an alarm box (from ADT). The piece can been seen on a building at the Albion Dockyard in Hanover Place. Banksy is calling it The Girl with the Pierced Eardrum.

Street Canvas: Best Works By Banksy

Too often Banksy’s street graffiti lives a very short time before it’s removed. Pity that, cause we think Banksy is talented, funny, and can make some very loud statements with his art with which we agree. Although we know that any talk of graffiti seems to ignite a war of opinions ranging from “it’s art” to “it’s vandalism,” the rebel spirit of raging against the machine appeals to some of us. The artist himself said, “Is graffiti art or vandalism? That word has a lot of negative connotations and it alienates people, so no, I don’t like to use the word ‘art’ at all.” Here are some of Banksy’s graffiti that speaks loudly to us, mixed in with quotes gathered from around the web that are purportedly pure Banksy
