18-Year-Old Artist's Amazingly Realistic Drawings of Celebrities

Although these images may look like snapshots of celebrities, they're actually the handiwork of Jack Ede, an 18-year-old artist who creates amazingly photorealistic portraits. Using graphite, colored pencils, and rubber erasers for blending, the UK-based teen crafts extraordinarily lifelike depictions of stars such as Morgan Freeman, Bryan Cranston, and Robin Williams.

This Company Takes Children’s Drawings And Turns Them Into Toys

There's nothing quite like a child's drawing. Even the most eccentric artist can only hope to achieve a fraction of the creativity that goes into artwork made by a kid. Even when a young one takes on a familiar subject, you end up seeing it in a way you never have before. I've never seen an art project from a kid that hasn't made me think. Thanks to Budsies, we don't have to let their art waste away on the refrigerator door. No, with their help, we can bring these amazing creations to life.

Javier Perez, a clever artist in Ecuador, is back with more simple but brilliant drawings that incorporate everyday objects – but this time, those everyday objects are his fingers.

Dirty Freight Trucks Become Canvases for Beautifully Detailed Drawings

For well over 10 years, British artist Ben Long has created public art using only his hands. Fingers act as a paintbrush as he produces elaborate drawings on the rear shutters of dirty freight trucks. They transform these large vehicles into mobile works of art, and Long has appropriately named his on-going series The Great Traveling Art Exhibition.

Photorealistic Pastel Drawings of the Maldives

Artist Zaria Forman, who we first got to know for her spectacular series on Greenland, continues to bring awareness to important environmental issues through her pastel drawings. Forman spent September 2013 in the beautiful Maldives, the lowest and flattest country in the world. She found inspiration there to create a new body of work that would shed light on a nation that could be entirely underwater within this century.

Incredible Life-Sized Drawings of Animals that Look 3D

Vancouver-based art student Fiona Tang creates masterful, life-sized drawings of animals that appear to pop right off of the paper. A tough-looking whale emerges from the wall to battle a menacing shark; a regal deer looks straight at the viewer; an immense crocodile pokes its snout out from the wall. Although the artworks look incredibly three-dimensional, each piece is actually a completely flat and 2D drawing, created using a variety of media like charcoal, acrylic paint, conte, and chalk pastel.

Tang pulls off her convincing illusions using a technique called trompe l'oeil, which uses realistic imagery to make 2D objects appear 3D. This technique, combined with Tang's expressive gestural method of drawing, make for impressive, eye-popping artworks that seem to have a life of their own.

Nicolas Jolly Crafts Impressive New Fingerprint Drawings

Using just pen and ink, French artist Nicolas Jolly crafts intricately-swirling images that are as impressive as they are detailed. Each composition is comprised of a meticulous collection of mark-making featuring countless black hatches that effortlessly flow in different directions. Jolly calls this his “fingerprint” technique, and the waves of lines animate the subject and add a dramatic effect.
