Woman Orders $600 Meal For 1 At One Of America’s Most Expensive Restaurants, And Here’s What She Get

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to treat yourself to a $600 meal at one of the world’s best restaurants? While clearly no substitute for the real thing (the crucial senses of taste and smell cannot be replicated over the internet… yet), Imgur user Hoptail has allowed us to eat vicariously through her graphic descriptions and photos from a restaurant in San Francisco.

		Alternative Press Expo
Coming back on October 12 and 13th 2013, the 20th annual Alternative Press Expo, or APE at San Francisco Concord Exhibition Center. APE is one of the leading alternative and self-published comics events in the country originally started by Dan Vado then taken over by Comic-Con its second year. Alternative Press Expo not only has the future great comics to read but the actual artist/writer behind the table. (Just imagine meeting the next Stan Lee when he first started writing...) Filled with art, books, DYI items, speakers, special guest, hands on workshops, there is so much much more to see.

Zeitgeist, Where the Beer is Warm and the Women Cold. Motorcycles OK.

Where the Beer is Warm and the Women Cold. Motorcycles OK.
Once a staple for Stagehands and Bicycle Messengers, Zeitgeist, is now filled with fedora wearing Marina Kids complete with dock shoes on. The old regulars a once rambunctious punk fun crowd, rarely visit. Burgers are pretty good and even have gotten on the gluten free bun bandwagon, but Bloody Mary's are still fantastic and a classic. It's a fun place to catch a game, but seating is not usually available unless you park early. There is a pool table and Bike parking is in the Beer Garden. The beer Garden actually has a garden but is since neglected, probably do to change of ownership. Never go on a Beautiful Sunday afternoon unless your wearing your polo and dock shoes.

Free Space in San Francisco, community project

Part of the experience of living in San Francisco is going to events that are simple and free. Wondering around for Park(ing) Day in San Francisco a little park in a meter spot in front of a random building actually became the learning experience of [ Freespace ]

Sit outside for Friday's Lunch, International Park(ing) Day,

Providing temporary public open space . . . one parking spot at at time.

International Parking Day, This Friday September 20th 2013. Started in 2005 with 1 city and 1 a DYI project by Rebar, a art and design studio, rolled out some sod (grass) put a tree, fence and park bench out for people to come enjoy the city.

The mission of PARK(ing) Day is to call attention to the need for more urban open space, to generate critical debate around how public space is created and allocated, and to improve the quality of urban human habitat … at least until the meter runs out!

For 2 hours the Park(ing) day was over, however, a iconic image of the event spread the idea like wild fire across the web. Bombarding Rabar with request for more installations for Park(ing) day in other cities. In 2011 the DYI project has now spread to 975 Parks, in 162 Cities, across 5 Countries, and on 6 Continents.

Perhaps you are wondering is this actually legal for a Non-Vehicle to take up a parking space. Well on the park(ing) day website they provide the answer to this and many other FAQ.

"Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The specifics depend on your local legal codes and it is your responsibility to check the law. In San Francisco it appears to be legal to do other things in a parking spot besides park a vehicle, but in some municipalities (New York City, for example) alternate activities are expressly prohibited. It’s up to you to be informed and flexible when it comes to obeying your local law."

Check for a Park(ing) spot near you http://goo.gl/maps/bZvQB. If you want to contribute to next year Park(ing) Day, plan for next year Park(ing) day is on the third Friday in September. http://parkingday.org

IAMA. SF's Newest Art Museum. Free

San Francisco's Newest Art Museum is currently FREE to the public. For months staring into the window of what looks like another Rainforest Cafe, is actually the International Art Museum of America. The insides are elegantly designed, very rich with materials, wonderful natural lighting upstairs and the Oddest art collection one has have ever seen. In naming a brand new museum, mysteriously funded by a international board of trustees, the ball dropped. The majority of the Beautiful Fine Art Collection is the 16 different styles of one man, H.H. Dorje Chang Budda III. In fact one wonders if there is a American Artist in the bunch. The collection combines 19th and 20th century European art next to some of the more famous asian artist ever. Extravagant frames, catchy bios brings one to a chuckle. "How could elegance of such Fragrant Loofah in a Purple Bamboo Forest not live on forever?" or "...you marvel at them in a state of perplexity. Then you realize they are paints of different kinds of Jade." While being very diverse the collection is very entertaining for a San Francisco afternoon.

Tú Lan, Find The Vietnamese spot in SF.

Vietnamese Food in what they are calling "Central Market" previously "Theater District" but normally thought as Tenderloin. Tu Lan was shut down do to poor health code scores or was it? Tu Lan had yummy food at a great price, fast service and a great diversity of patrons in a friendly intimate atmosphere. Honestly, that is the best review that I, Dottiepineapple, could ever give. Being centrally located in the city people often stop and await for the promise of their reopening. Status updates say, "they have passed ALL of their inspections and just finishing up the details". In person report says that a date is set for MONDAY!!! So guess where I'll be Monday August, 26th 2013! Hope to be eating with you soon!

Sunday Streets in the Tenderloin

Since 2008 San Francisco has started Sunday Streets. Throughout the year a different neighborhood is featured including the Tenderloin's first year in Aug, 18th 2013. The police shut down a circle track so the community comes out and plays; Music, Food, Public health and wellness, Kids ride there bikes in the street safely along side parents. This Sunday, I got to experience the community of the Tenderloin. Dave Chapel describe, "There is nothing Tender about that loin." Yet there is lots of fun and family to be enjoyed in the Tenderloin.
