Some years ago, squirrels started to come in my garden. I decided to build an outside studio from my balcony and started to shoot photos from my kitchen window. This half year I worked on a children book, “Squirrel Teaching You The Alphabet”, and was confronted with some letters like an object starting with an “X”. That became a squirrel photo with a xylophone. From there I started doing a series of squirrel photos with music instruments.

Some years ago I started to take photos from my kitchen window of wild red squirrels, and do that still. Normally, I get bored after doing something for a few years, but not with this. I still watch these beautiful animals almost every day and make photos. They come and they go. I try to bring some magic, wonder and happiness with my work, which are real photos and not Photoshop. Only sometimes I take away a wire or some food. I also put out some videos on Youtube.

Wildlife photographer Andrew Fulton spotted an extremely rare white squirrel in Marbury Country Park, Northwich, UK. “It was my first time seeing a white squirrel as they are so rare, but hopefully it won’t be the last,” Andrew says. “It took me a while to find the squirrel even though I knew there was one in the park due to word of mouth and other people reporting it,” he adds.

Some years ago Gert Weggen started building a house with an open outside studio where wild animals can freely come. This studio is build 1 meter from the ground and is directly connected with his kitchen window. This is how he makes compositions on an eye level, 3 meters from his window and he uses food to lure animals.

Reddit user terminusbound spotted this highly unusual looking squirrel outside his office building in San Jose, California. Not only is the squirrel black and white, but it also has bright blue eyes.
In reality the squirrel has what’s called “piebald” which is a coloration that arises sometimes in many mammal populations (cats, dog, cows, horses, fox, mice, rats). In the wild, they are easy prey so usually don’t live to reproduce. Under domestication, the animals are protected and the color can become established. This squirrel probably lives a pretty sheltered life with not many predators in the area.
