BSOD: Lamentable Moments
26 oct 2012 11:57

The blue screen of death (BSOD) is synonymous with the Windows operating system. How many times have you been in the middle of installing some new awesome game when the blue screen appears, out of nowhere. So what do you do?

If you have the cash you get the nice implentation of freeBSD and linux (aka OSX) or you get the poor mans Linux box and just install ubuntu on your now dead machine. It can be sad and really embarrassing to get the BSOD. Especially in these high profile instances.

Rememeber the SOPA/PIPA protests?
26 oct 2012 11:40

Most people forgot or never even knew what this was about. But the freedom of the internet was and still is an issue for many people. In some sense it is the last bastion of a truly 'free' place to exist. At the same time some believe that this freedom breeds dissent, as if dissent is a bad thing.

Here is some of the protest art that was created for the purpose of fighting these incredulous laws.

Final Destination 5 production dailies vs final film.
26 oct 2012 13:05

Ok, let's go ahead and put it out there: the latest Final Destination movies have honestly sucked. The first one was cool, and I'll even admit that the second one was cool too, but then they killed it (pun intended) after that one. Really though, it's kind of cool seeing the original shots, versus the final shots you get to see in the theaters. Let's take a look. What do you think?

King Norodom Sihanouk mourned
25 oct 2012 17:38

Cambodians last week mourned King Norodom Sihanouk, who died in China while seeking medical treatment since January. The 89-year-old former monarch held many roles in government and was king on more than one occasion, starting in 1941. He gave up the throne to his son, Norodom Sihamoni, in 2004. Sihanouk led the country through its independence from France in 1953 and was connected to much turmoil in the country over the last 50 years. A crowd estimated at 200,000 lined the streets in Phnom Penh today to welcome home the body, which will lie in state for three months before being cremated according to Buddhist ritual

Inspired Workstations
25 oct 2012 10:37

I am sitting in a coffee shop looking at pictures of people's home workstations lamenting the lack of space for a proper 'workstation' in my life. Funny right? I am sitting in a coffee shop, chilling, watching hot chicks go by, while sipping on expertly made cappuccino all the while lamenting not being able to be at home, stuck to a desk, maybe with some natural light...Who would make the expert level cappuccino?

Donkey Kong Re-imagined With Famous Characters
23 oct 2012 22:50

The simplicity of Donkey Kong, coupled with the deviously addictive nature of the game, made it an indispensable element of our youth. So while we might feel a little protective over its usage (in the big screen adaptation, we want Steve Buscemi in a massive donkey suit), we're rather massive fans of this set of tribute art. The incredibly talented "Baz" has reinvented the classic set-up but with a different set of familiar characters each time. Each of which we would play until our eyes started to bleed. Or we get too thirsty.

Alternative Video Game Art
23 oct 2012 22:44

Whenever you hear an artist speak about his or her inspiration, if you're actually bothering to listen, then you've probably never heard the words Pac-Man or Double Dragon being used. Which is a shame and a lie and a travesty and something that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. In comes those forward-thinking folk at Gallery 1988 who've assembled a new show that highlights the very best video game-inspired art out there.
