Ahmad Brooks, outside linebacker, and Donte Whitner, strong safety, returned interceptions for touchdowns, while Drew Brees was sacked five times.
On the offense, Colin Kaepernick had his second career start. He passed for 231 yards and also ran for a 7 yard score.
Brees finished with 267 yards and three TDs, but with only 59 yards rushing, they were unable to defeat the red and gold.
