Yesterday, runners Abbey D’Agostino (USA) and Nikki Hamblin (New Zealand) left the world touched while competing in the women’s 5,000-meter event in Rio. During the race, somewhere around 3,200 meters, runners collided. As D’Agostino was getting up, she noticed Hamblin was hurt and needed help. "When I went down it was like, ‘what’s happening? And suddenly there’s this hand on my shoulder, like ‘get up, get up, we have to finish this!" Hamblin told.

For some time, Little Free Libraries have been emerging in Fayetteville, Arkansas and a local jogger named Jessica Mcclard started wondering why they were such a success. “My feeling is little free structures both create space for neighborliness and address social problems,” McClard told Huffpost. This is how she came up with The Little Free Pantry initiative.

I had gotten Betsy about a week before my mom passed. She was my best friend, and losing her was one of the hardest things I have had to deal with in life

Jenn Eckert had gotten Betsy about a week before her mom passed-less than two months before her wedding. It felt like her whole life was crumbling. The only reason she would get up in the morning was because she knew she couldn’t let this six month old baby bunny starve. Betsy felt her anguish, and would hop up on the couch and lay next to Jenn. She wouldn’t leave her side and it was in her Jenn found the strength to begin to heal.

Michael J. Baines feeds about 80 stray dogs in Chonburi, Thailand every day. The 48-year-old has been doing that for the last 5 years now. Baines provides them with a mixture of dry dog food, rice, oil, steamed fish, or chicken on his way to work, when he drives to the forest to walk his own dogs, or when he’s going back home. The man also feeds any dogs that he sees outside his restaurant.

Restaurant Puts Fridge In Street So Hungry People Can Take Leftovers

Restaurants waste a lot of food, a lot still goes into the bin when it could, well, go into people’s bellies.
So when a restaurant owner in Kochi, India, saw a homeless woman eating from a trashcan, she knew she had to do something. So Minu Pauline came up with a brilliant idea. Realizing that her restaurant, Pappadavada, had a lot of leftover food, she decided to put a fridge outside so homeless people could help themselves.

Though it’s a bit early, one woman (and a whole bunch of kids) has already shown us what the holiday spirit is really all about. Worried about what the homeless would do during the coming winter, Tara Smith-Atkins, her eight-year-old daughter, and seven of her friends gathered winter coats and tied them to street poles throughout the city of Halifax for the homeless to claim.

Tip For A Bartender
Katarina
28 apr 2014 10:02

For many people, pets are part of the family that their owners would do anything for. Bartender Christina Summitt was an animal lover. She adored her dog Tucker, so she had a paw print tattooed on her wrist. She was working when a couple she was serving noticed the mark, and asked her about it.
Christina revealed then that she had a Great Dane-black Labrador mix … and he was sick.
