Here's 25 Utterly Improvised & Unscripted Movie Scenes
17 may 2013 19:00

With so much investment needed in making featured length film, one of the few things that film studios are incredibly strict on is the script itself. Directors are allow “creative license and actors are allowed to interpret their characters as best they can – but the diagloue, that’s pretty much locked down tight. Teams of writers spend limitless hours going back on forth setting the tone, linking scenes and attempting to give their characters some unique qualities. That is unless, you’re one of these 25 movies you’re about to see. It’s here you’ll find entire scenes completely improvised and bite-sized quotes utterly unscripted – a moment of inspiration and chemistry from the actors themselves. In fact, they were so seamless in the context of the overall film, they even made the final cut. You might be surprised just how many scenes and films you recognise, we certainly were!

Moose on the loose
17 may 2013 12:23

A moose decided it wanted to join the party when it took a dip in a private swimming pool at a holiday villa. The group of holidaymakers were shocked when they spotted the beast swimming a few lengths of the pool in Redmond, Washington, before relaxing in the shallow end. The creature looked like it was having a whale of a time as the party panicked about how it was going to get out of the pool and more importantly, if they would have the poolside to themselves again.

If you love yoga and you can't get enough of dogs, then you'll probably love Yoga Dogs, a book dedicated to some flexible furry creatures. Inspired by a friend’s mastiff that would imitate its master’s morning yoga routine, photographer Daniel Borris made a collection of 45 different dogs and puppies doing human yoga poses. Of course, the dogs weren't trained on how to do the "downward-facing dog" or the "inverted locus" by some kooky teacher, these hilarious photo-manipulations were created with the help of Photoshop.

He's back with a whole new set of work that's just as simple but smart as before. Phoenix, Arizona-based artist Sebastien Millon creates works that ride that fine line between sweet and slightly disturbing. While some of his pieces can be appreciated by one and all, there's definitely a good amount that should only be viewed by adults. Usually featuring animals like a drunk bear, a knife-wielding lemur or an evil rabbit, they're hilarious, laugh out loud works that you'll just want to share. (Love how there's just a tinge of sarcasm in some of them.)

There is no way for me to express how much I love illustrator and web designer Chris Gerringer's series titled I Know That Feel, Bro. The series of illustrations, which echo the artist's great sense of humor, follow the basic template of placing two subjects, often fictional pop culture characters, side-by-side, bumping fists, who have something in common to commiserate about. The project has really taken off in the last month with Gerringer's release of over 20 illustrations (that's 40 different characters) of these well-known figures finding company for their shared misery.

"Most of them are very banal and uninteresting - but it's that banality juxtaposed with an unusual or subversive context that makes them fun," he tells us. "I guess it started when I was imagining the more mundane farm animal meeting fantastical creatures and I figured because they are so detailed they would photograph really nicely.

For Brazilian artist Butcher Billy, the difference between the superhero characters and rock idols of his youth is minimal. Billy explores where the two collide in his The Post-Punk / New Wave Super Friends project. The illustrated series features a mash-up of ‘80s icons appearing as superheroes—there’s Morrissey as Superman, Ian Curtis as Batman and Mark Mothersbaugh as The Flash. The mock DC Comic illustrations also include fitting lyrics from each featured musician’s songs. Billy’s project explores the question of what makes a pop culture icon through great work in illustration and character design.

Here’s Julianne Moore on the Cannes red carpet.

It's one of the biggest nights in the showbiz calendar, so every star has paid close attention to how they'll look down to the finer details, knowing the world's eyes are on them. But it seems Julianne Moore had forgotten to select her shoes correctly for Wednesday night's Cannes Film Festival Opening Ceremony. The actress, 52, tottered on to the rain soaked red carpet among the Hollywood elite to see a screening of opening movie, The Great Gatsby. But while most eyes were on her large lilac coloured Dior dress with black strapless detailing, eagle eyed fans would have been astonished to see the state of her tortured toes.

Arrested Development: Best Of Fan Made Tobias Funke Insert Me Anywhere
16 may 2013 17:48

It's been just over twenty-four hours since Ron Howard, Dr. Tobias Fünke, and the Arrested Development team unleashed InsertMeAnywhere.biz on the internet, forever altering the "Tobias+Funke" Tumblr tag and how we think about mangos. As an early celebrator of all things Insert Me Anywhere, I feel it's my duty to follow up with some of the best inserting anywhere the internet has to offer a day later. With the ruthless clinical objectivity of a seasoned analrapist I've trimmed this down to a manageable number. It helps that censors prohibited me from including Tobias's involvement in the NSFW Theon scene from last week's GOT. And now to prematurely shoot our wads on what was supposed to be a dry run, if you will.

Australian Morning Show Host Pulls 'Anchorman' Prank On His Co-Host
16 may 2013 17:33

Here is a clip of Australian morning show host Karl Stefanovic — who is awesome — using the Anchorman teleprompter prank to trick his co-host, Roz Kelly, into professing her love for hash cookies. So simple, and yet so perfect. You know, it’s a good thing I don’t work at a news station. I would try this just about every day, to the point that it would get incredibly old not only for my co-workers, but also for the viewers, and it would send our ratings tumbling into a bottomless pit of despair. It would get so bad that the station’s parent company would be forced to declare bankruptcy and lay off thousands of people. Then those newly unemployed individuals would be unable to make their mortgage payments, which would lead to another collapse of the housing market and a sustained period of economic hardship for the whole nation as stock prices drop to never-before-seen lows. Eventually we would all be forced to revert to hunting and gathering to sustain ourselves, and those who are unable to adapt to this rugged way of life would be burned for fuel. Chaos would be the new law of the land, and Ted Nugent would be king. Or they would just, like, fire me.

20 'The Office' Series Finale GIFs
16 may 2013 17:05

Fear. Anger. Sadness. Joy. Disgust. Trust. Anticipation. Surprise. Those are not only the eight basic emotions, according to Robert Plutchik’s theory, but a decent description of our reaction to NBC’s The Office during its nine-season run, which ends tonight. For a solid five or six season stretch, it was one of the best sitcoms on TV (and all-time), before, as happens with too many shows with better ratings than ideas, it became a shell of itself. “Finale” is going to be an emotional hour for anyone who’s spent the last eight years caring about Michael, Jim, Pam, Dwight, and the rest of the Dunder-Mifflin gang, so I thought we’d go through each of the eight emotions above, to come to terms with no more The Office. It’s good that it’s going, but it’s sad that it’ll be gone. Fear…that we won’t see Jenna Fischer, The Office‘s secret MVP, as much as we should. Steve Carell, John Krasinski, and Rainn Wilson get most of the attention, not undeservedly so, but I’d argue that The Office is as much about Pam’s journey from sheepish secretary to confident salesperson as it is anything else. Plus, her speech “Beach Games” is maybe my favorite moment of the entire show.

Wild Card! The Main Trailer For 'Pacific Rim' Is Pretty Cool

Warner and Legendary Entertainment released the full main trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s Pacific Rim just a few moments ago. Clocking in at the same length as first trailer and the WonderCon footage, this one nonetheless feels like it’s giving us more. We’ve already seen GIFs of robots with rocket elbows punching monsters in the face. We can’t wait to see what GIFs the internet will come up with after this trailer gets around. Coming off of our WonderCon footage reel, this looks includes a few of the same setpieces, but also packs some new elements. We witness some sort of memory transference between the pilots of our robots, as well as a few new bits of large-scale action. Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker Kai Wanted For Murder
16 may 2013 16:57

Nope. Ain’t no way, ain’t no how. Our beloved Kai wouldn’t do this to us, would he? Would he…? "Authorities in Union County have issued an arrest warrant for internet celebrity “Kai the hatchet wielding hitchhiker” in the murder of Joseph Galfy, Jr. in Clark, New Jersey. The victim, Joseph Galfy, was found inside his home on Starlite Drive on May 13, 2013 after officers received a call to check on his well-being. An autopsy performed the following day determined that Galfy died as a result of blunt force trauma, said Union County Prosecutor Theodore J. Romankow. Based on the investigation, authorities know that McGillvary has his hair to alter his appearance." Didn’t happen. I refuse to believe that Kai, a homeless man who wields a hatchet and goes by four different names and has a penchant for yelling SMASH, would do something like this. Video: Nick Offerman Sings 'Rainbow Song' On 'The Tonight Show'
16 may 2013 16:55

Nick Offerman appeared on Leno last night with a thick mountain man beard and an acoustic guitar and sang “Rainbow Song,” a sweet, loving tribute to his wife that featured lyrics about blow jobs and butt sex and cooking smack. If there was any doubt remaining that he is a great American who deserves a statue or a holiday or a gift certificate to IHOP (and, really, between his work as Ron Swanson and his verse on his wife’s cover of “Smell Yo Dick,” there shouldn’t be), I feel confident in saying it has been erased. This song also brings up another point, which is that Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally appear to have a very cool marriage. I don’t know them personally, so for all I know they scream and shout at each other 24/7 whenever there’s not a camera pointed at one of them, but there’s something refreshing about a couple who has no qualms about going on national television and singing funny songs about the filthy sex things they do to each other. But I suppose I’m just a romantic.
