Koreans have an interesting way of celebrating Valentines Day. On February 14, women buy men gifts, usually in the form of chocolate, and on March 14, called “White Day” men return the favor with gifts and chocolate to prove their love. However what's most interesting and unusual about their tradition is that April 14 is dedicated to singles, and is called the "Black Day". Lonely single people gather, dressed in black, wearing black accessories, black nail polish and eat jjajang myeon, noodles covered in black bean paste. This is Korea's national dish and is considered to be a comfort food.
Matchmaking services usually have a growth spurt on Black Days.
The famous dish.
Unfortunate singles who didn't receive any V-day love.
There are even jjajang myeon eating competitions during the Black Day.
Have to keep the sad loners occupied I guess.
