Two Norwegian divers stumbled upon a mysterious floating shape in the waters of Ørstafjorden, Norway

A group of divers outside Ørsta in Norway were visiting a WWII shipwreck 200 meters from the coast, at the beginning of this October. On their way back, Ronald Raasch and Nils Baadness together with their team members from the research group REV Ocean discovered a mysterious floating shape. The blob that was captured on camera was floating 17 meters below the sea surface. Turns out, the pair of divers had discovered a 10-armed squid egg’s sac.

In 1967, Dr. William Podlich took a two-year leave of absence from teaching at Arizona State University and began a stint with UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) to teach in the Higher Teachers College in Kabul, Afghanistan. His wife Margaret and two daughters, Peg and Jan, came with him. Outside of higher education, Dr. Podlich was a prolific amateur photographer and he documented his family’s experience.

There are some artists that just stand out from the rest. What makes Tom Eckert’s art so special is its weightless quality (and something that’ll take you a few moments to notice). His pieces typically focus on a surreal scene that usually features cloths and linens. At first, you might not be impressed. When you realize what his work really is, you may be more taken aback.

The bloodwood tree (Pterocarpus angolensis) is a deciduous tree with a high canopy, reaching about 15m in height and has dark bark. The red sap is used traditionally as a dye and in some areas mixed with animal fat to make a cosmetic for faces and bodies.
