One day Maxine Baird, the founder of A New Hope animal sanctuary in Georgia, was contacted and asked if she would temporarily take in a very aggressive albino raccoon. Baird had already raised over 200 raccoons, but she expected this one to be the worst. The animal care people said the animal had been through hell, with the abuse and the most horrific conditions…
Everyone said this albino raccoon was very aggressive, as she had been through abuse and was a rescue
Maxine Baird from A New Hope animal sanctuary, was asked if she would temporarily take the animal in
Baird had already raised over 200 raccoons, but she expected this “aggressive” one to be the worst
However, when the raccoon arrived, she didn’t look dangerous – rather sad, scared, and unhealthy
“She was covered in feces, urine — so much to the point that she had urine burns all over her rear and stomach”
The raccoon also had excruciating sores all over the pads of her feet
Then one day this happened: “I’d been going through some stuff… so I went out there, and I sat by her”
“She came right up to me… and put her little hands in my hand”
“Ever since then, she’s been honestly the sweetest raccoon… We just had a really good connection”
Now the grateful rescue can’t stop kissing and cuddling with her new mom and other raccoons
However, Baird is quick to remind that raccoons are NOT to be kept as pets and should live in the wild
