People prepare jars of jam, juice, fruit and vegetables for winter. But the family from Stavropol (Russia) make jars of something different. They even got arrested for this stuff. You won't believe, what they were making.

Russian houses inside are mostly grey and dull. People have nothing interesting to see there when they come back home. An artist from Astrakhan Boris Chernichenko decided to change this situation and now the eight storey building where he lives looks so good inside!

Sander Reijgers, a dutch artist, has taken the idea of up-cycling to a new extreme. He makes hoodies out of old blow-up dolls. Reikgers doesn't understand how people can have sex with such ugly things, but he makes something beautiful and functional.

It is well known on Listverse that I love history; it may be lesser-known that the 18th century is my favorite period in time – followed shortly after by the Middle Ages. Many of our lists dealing with historic times tend to discuss the nice parts – not intentionally avoiding the bad – just lacking space on a list for both. This list looks at ten rather unfortunate parts of Western history in the 18th century.

Deep within the inaccessible jungle of the southeast Indonesian province of Papua, about 150 kilometres inland from the Arafura Sea, lives the Korowai tribe – a clan totally isolated from the rest of the world. They are hunter-gatherers living in a small society of traditional family ties who need to share all they have in order to survive. Until their discovery by a Dutch missionary in 1974, the Korowai had hardly any contact with the outside world.

Designed by Weta Workshop NZ, Wellington was chosen as the airport due to its proximity to many of the filming locations used by the Lord of The Rings franchise. Wellington has actually already seen Gollum before, he was searching for the ring outside one of the airports gates, also with a sign stating “Welcome to the Middle of Middle Earth”. This second installation however can be seen by all in the terminal, and he would be hard to miss. Weighing in at 1.2 tons, made purely of polystyrene and finished in epoxy resin, this massive installation had to be made in 9 pieces just to fit through the door of the terminal. To put it into perspective, each of the fish are 4 metres long.

Not all of us velieve in true love. But these pictures of couples in New York are unquestionable proof.

This looks an absolute blast. Instead of pretending to be a medieval knight saving a princess from a damp tower you can go to this role playing camp in China and pretend to be killing the Japanese. You just know this will ease the tension between the two nations.

This work is amazing. Ian takes paint or powder and catches, with high speed photography, the moment the model and the powder or paint collide. It makes for some very dramatic pictures. Look at the way the paint drapes the models like a perfectly designed dress.

When I was a little kid I always wanted to have one of those beds that was also a race car. Never happened!
