Fresh And Mouth-Watering Beer Label Designs
11 mar 2013 12:46
So full disclosure before we begin, we’ve tried less than 25% of these rather interesting beverages, so we can’t tell you whether they taste like nectar from the Gods or cheap methylated spirit BUT one thing we do know, is that they all have some pretty impressive designs and labels going on. You might not have heard of many of these niche / limited release beers but you can’t deny they all certainly look worth buying a bottle or two and giving them a taste don’t they? Many of them are manufactured in the United States as well as some from Canada, so if you live outside of those countries you might have to go to your local importer and see if they have samples floating around. Underneath each design we’ve included links to the brewing companies themselves – so if you’re feeling a burning desire to try some of them out, at least you have a starting point. We found it pretty hard to choose our favourite illustration / logo, although the consensus in the office is that everyone wanted to try ‘Winter Beard’ because lets face it, how wrong can you go with a combination of double chocolate and cranberry? Leave a comment below and let us know which you’d like to sample or better yet, if you’ve been lucky enough to crack open one of them – tell us what you thought? We’d love to know!

Most Extreme Cultural Body Modifications
11 mar 2013 11:34
It is impossible to say who the first people were with stretched ears, or why they did it. Today, many cultures (including our own!) practice the art of ear stretching for many different reasons. Religion, coming of age ceremonies, warding off evil, sexual enhancement and physical beauty are common motivations. However, that just barely scratches the surface as there are many other reasons, as well. People all over the world still practice ear stretching. From the Masai tribes in Kenya to the Huaorani tribe in the Amazon Basin, stretched ears are still a common sight. It is a fascinating testament of human culture that a Western youth can walk into a piercing shop to select stretched ear jewelry while a Hmong youth in Thailand selects from an array of silver tubes.

If you have never been to Venice, make it one of your next destinations. It is beautiful and blew my mind when I first went for a boat ride on one of the many canals. Early May or September are the perfect times to go, not too hot and not too busy. And if you go, stray from the beaten path please.

The Hanging Restaurant Fangweng in Yichang, China
11 mar 2013 10:35
Fangweng Restaurant is located in China, in Hubei Province, about 12km north of the city of Yichang, near Sanyou Cave, or “The Cave of the Three Travelers”. The restaurant is in the Happy Valley of the Xiling Gorge, an especially scenic stretch of cliffs, caves and park land located around the area where the Chang Jiang River flows into the Yangtze. The entrance to the Fangweng Restaurant is an uninspiring grey brick building, but at the far end of a narrow concrete bridge, the restaurant caves into the cliff, the floor hanging several hundred feet above the ground. From this end, customers can view the flowing water of Yangtze River. For the daredevils, a bungee jumping platform is nearby.

All artist Rik Reimert needs to create these detailed illustrations is some paper and some ink. The rest is a series of lines and hashmarks that Reimert builds, from light to dark, with Rotring Rapidographs—a variety of technical writing devices that provide consistent ink flow. The artist begins with pencil and then fills in the lines with his pens that vary in thickness from 0.2 to 0.8mm tips.

Incredible Folded Paper Art by Simon Schubert
11 mar 2013 08:02
We have already seen wonderful sculptures that can be made out of a single sheet of paper, but you probably didn’t know that it’s also possible to draw amazing pictures without using paint or any tools other than hands for paper folding. At first sight, these very detailed pictures, which sell for up to £3,800, seem to have been drawn with pencil but only when you notice that Simon’s gallery web address ends with “papierarbeiten.html” you understand how amazing his works really are. A German artist named Simon Schubert (born 1976) has spent two years perfecting the art of folding paper, and now it takes him up to a week to create each of his elaborate masterpieces. “The first attempt was not really so successful, took quite a white to get the technique perfect” - says Simon. The funny part is that he often had to convince people his pictures are not painted. “Most of the people who see the work are surprised that the pictures are created by folding paper, they don’t believe it when I tell them. Many of them think I’ve used paint or pencil to create the affect of light and shade. But when they realize the pictures are actually folded they are quite impressed.”

Surreal Skatepark Light Paintings
11 mar 2013 07:58
Let’s meet another super creative artist - Ben Matthews (actually, he’s a dentist!), and see what happens when you skate at night with some lights on. The technique he uses is called light painting, also known as light drawing or light graffiti. It is a photographic technique in which exposures are made usually at night or in a darkened room by moving a hand-held light source or by moving the camera. In many cases the light source itself does not have to appear in the image. The term light painting also encompasses images lit from outside the frame with hand-held light sources. The first known photographer to use this technique was Man Ray in his series “Space Writing”.

Beautiful Trees Fill a Modern Room with Childhood Memories
11 mar 2013 07:33
Japanese architecture firm Hironaka Ogawa & Associates renovated a home in Kagawa, Japan, beautifully incorporating two trees into the interior design. The original home, which stood on the property for thirty-five years, has shared the land with a zelkova tree and a camphor tree since it was first erected. The architects behind this renovation project knew that they would have to remove the trees in order to expand the building, as per the client's request, but found a way to keep the memories of the towering trees intact.

Things Found in Robert Swift's Foreclosed House
11 mar 2013 05:52
Robert Swift once was an NBA professional player. In 2013, it was reported that Swift was refusing to vacate his foreclosed home, which had been bought by a new owner. The new owner bought the house in Sammamish, Washington in January 2013 for half the price paid in 2006. Swift eventually left the home, which was reportedly riddled with animal feces, guns, bullets, beer bottles, and garbage, as well as old letters from some of the top college basketball programs in the country trying to recruit him, before he went straight to the NBA from high school.
