The cost of education has increased for everyone world wide. Sometimes one has to wonder if political systems are purposefully trying to put the educational system on its death bed. Chile recently hiked up the expense of education for students. For some families, education has now become an unaffordable luxury. Seeing how education is pretty much a human right, the people of have begun to protest in order to make education affordable again.
On September 27, hundreds of students went to the streets to peacefully protest against the new increased expense. The march started at 11 am in front of the University of Santiago.

There were close to 70,000 students who went out to the streets to protest on this day.

Everyone, all ages, participated in this march. From high school students, University students, parents, and grandparents.
The accusation is that the current right-leaning government has privitized education, making it an unaffordable luxury for many.
The older generation remembers the previous dictatorship that they were under. This sign is a reflection on what the social movement in the past had accomplished. The said "NO" to a dictatorship, and lost ground when the new privatized sector became more of a dictatorship.
These are human rights representatives. There were repeated complaints of sexual assault and other charges of mistreatment by the police. They were here to protect others basic human rights.
Protestors regrouped and organized with people they had lost in the march. On the other corner, the police officers were ready with tear gas.

Street vendors were affected by the tear gas too. The lemons apparently help against the tear gas.
After many months of protesting, the feeling becomes normal and daily life continues.
