First Openly Bisexual Woman in Congress

First Openly Bisexual Woman in Congress

Meet Kyrsten Sinema.

Openly bisexual.

In Arizona.

A state so incredibly conservative, women are considered pregnant two weeks before conception.

Talk about breaking down barriers.

Sinema becomes the first openly bisexual member of Congress. Her victory came in a year when three states approved gay marriage, and at least five openly gay Democrats were elected to House seats. A Wisconsin congresswoman also became the first openly gay person elected to the Senate.

Sinema will be the second out LGBT member of Congress from Arizona. Former Rep. Jim Kolbe, a Republican, was the first.
