We had high hopes for Jennifer Lawrence's performance on Saturday Night Live, but unfortunately she underdelivered. It's OK Jennifer, everyone screws the pooch on occassion. Stand-up comedy isn't up everyone's alley and requires more practice than it may seem. On top of that, the blown-out-of-proportion expectations of the funny girl's skills didn't help her case. Recap below!
She started by bashing all the oscar nominees: "I would never trash-talk any of my fellow nominees at the Golden Globes, but the Oscars are another story."
Her obvious nervousness got in the way of some of the jokes, that turned from funny to cheesy.
She seemed a little uncomfortable but some of the jokes landed well: “The alphabet called. They want their letters back.” She exclaimed about Quvenzhané Wallis.
The "Hunger Games" skit was disappointing, and lacking in good jokes.
"The Hobbit" skit was more of a success, pointing out the silliness of splitting it into multiple movies. Not original - but enough to make it work.
Overall, Jennifer's performance got better as the night progressed, and she shed her nervousness to bring us some laughter towards the end.
