Scientists have discovered four stranded DNA in human cells! They called these weird structures G-quadruplexes. Some believe that the four stranded DNA can serve in future prevention of the rapid division of cancer cells. "We are seeing links between trapping the quadruplexes with molecules and the ability to stop cells dividing, which is hugely exciting," said Shankar Balasubramanian, a chemist at the University of Cambridge and Cambridge Research Institute.
This is what conventional human DNA looks like.
And this is the four stranded DNA, or the G-quadruplex.

Break down of the 4 stranded DNA.
The new discovery promises an exciting possibility of cancer prevention!
