When it comes to self-autonomous orbs floating along the uninhabitable streets of a post-apocalyptic world, we’re not talking about the latest sci-fi movie from Hollywood, we’re describing the unique work of Masakatsu Sashie. He’s the gifted Japanese painter behind this series of spherical structures that hover over a barren landscape once formerly known as Earth.
His vision of our future is in stark contrast to how the German’s back in 1900 perceived our future selves.
He ingeniously comprises each orb using elements from modern-day society, our love of commerce, the architecture that surrounds us and the consumables we demand. A metaphor that if we focus purely on our desires of greed, wealth and convenience - we do so to the potential detriment of the environment and world in which we live.
