I have nothing against Putin, but it seems like all the pressure of being Russia's president for over a decade has taken a toll on him. He's well known for his publicity stunts, and has done everything from riding a horse, shirtless, to flying with a flock of cranes, to finding ancient Greek pottery in the Black Sea. It seems that he is desperately trying to portray a macho as well as a humble man image of himself. It's understandable that keeping himself in the public eye is important, but quite frankly the scale and frequency of his stunts borders on ridiculous. May be he's overcompensating for his aging ego? Here's what I mean.
At a diving trip to the Black Sea Putin and his crew surfaced with a set of ancient Greek pottery, claiming it to be an amazing random find. However the ridiculousness of it soon pushed the truth out. They were obviously planted! Ay Putin, is there no limits to your grandeur.
He's claimed to be an animal lover multiple times and his animal-themed events that started in Spring of 2010 and lasted all through 2011 are a proof of this man's tender heart. Here he is placing a tracking collar on a giant polar bear, later he released a leopard into the wild and collected skin samples from a gray whale by shooting harmless darts into it with a crossbow. Yes Putin, the people love you!
But it doesn't stop there. Mr. President decided to lead a flock of endangered cranes on their Winter migratory path by gearing up in a puffy jump suit and boarding a motorized hang glider. I'm sure the birds thanked their fearless leader for showing them the way.
A charity gala event in St. Petersburg provided a perfect opportunity for this all around great man to show off his singing skills to the high-profile audience consisting of American celebrities. Putin took the stage to perform the Fats Domino classic "Blueberry Hill". The performance, although not great, was a huge hit. You've done it again Putin!
Riding through Siberia with no shirt on is a sure way to win popularity amongst the public.
He asked the public to help him name his new puppy, given to him by the Bulgarian head of state, to demonstrate his softer side, again. He settled on "Buffy", which was suggested by a 5 year old boy. Now this is cute!
