Black cats have been surrounded by supersticious beliefs throughout Western history. They were often associated with witches and evil omens. Most of Western and Southern Europe considers the black cat a symbol of bad luck even today, especially if one crosses your path, which is believed to be an omen of misfortune and death. Since I am from Europe, I can reassure you of that supersticion, as I've always been told to never walk where the black cat has crossed, by my mother and grandmother. The black cat in folklore was known to have the ability to change into human shape and act as a spy for witches or demons, and in the Middle Ages this suspicion led people to kill them. Until today the black cat remains a symbol of mystery and darkness. The obvious examples are their frequent appearance in Halloween decorations and Scarry movies. So with that in mind, check out these creepy black cat images.

Everyone knows the common negative effects of sleep deprivation, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure and heart desease, however it doesn't make the majority of people smarter about their sleep. Our bodies need a good 8 hours of sleep but according to a Centers for Disease Control report released in 2012 almost 1/3 of working adults in America get only 6, and it gets even worse in Daylight Saving. A recent study of two hospitals in Michigan found that they treated almost twice as many heart attack victims on the first day of Daylight Saving, and that there are usually more car accidents following the time change. But the main poin here is a new discovery made in a study just published in the "Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences". It's proven that getting too little sleep just a few nights in a row disrupts hundreds of genes responsible for stress and fighting diseases. Different genes turn on and off, and the ones that became active with lack of sleep, were involved in inflammation, immunity and protein damage. So people Sleep On!

A sunken military ship, USNS General Hoyt S.Vandenberg located off the coast of Florida, functions as the first underwater gallery for ghostly photographs of Viennese artist Andreas Franke. "It's like bringing the Vandenberg back to life," Franke said. He took some pictures of the ship with special underwater cameras, then photoraphed models in 1940s and 1950s costumes in his studio, after which he superimposed the model images over the top of the Vandenberg ship, creating an eerie underwater world frozen in time. "It's a huge empty ship with fish swimming around at 27 meters below the surface, the sunlight is this beautiful blue green color. I shot the models in the studio with the same lens, so the images matched." Truly a spectacular approach to art!
In just one century Earth's climate has gone from the coldest since the last ice age to one of its hottest. Studies have shown that the decade from 1900 to 1909 was colder than 95% of the last 11,300 years, where as it has spiked to being hotter than 75% during 2000 to 2009. "If emissions continue as currently predicted until then, global temperatures will rise well above anything we've ever seen in the last 11,000 years. By 2100, the Earth will be warmer than ever before" said climatologist Shaun Marcott.
There are virtually no limits to creativity the world of literary art. Not only are the creations and sculptures incredibly vivid and dramatic, but the materials they are made out of have their own artistic and intellectual value. Unfortunately books are slowly getting lost in the shuffle with all the digital technology that is taking the world by storm.
