We’re Val and Tim, the co-founders of The Nomads Bus. Together with our kid, our dog and guests, we’re exploring Europe. After a summer in Spain and a winter in Austria, we’re now driving through Norway. We have six beds for guests, a wood stove to keep us warm in winter, an amazing rooftop deck and all the amenities you could possibly wish for.

“What happens when your last available dog gets adopted? Your staff and volunteers jump into the kennels to celebrate!” one happy animal shelter staff member posted on Monday. The Humane Society Of The Pikes Region in Colarado launched a very successful adoption campaign titled “Bring Them Home For The Holidays”. They made sure adoption fees are waived on all cats and dogs 5 years and up, for the period starting 18 December through New Year’s Eve.

So we had a bit of excavation work done. Our house needed under pinning to fix up the foundations, which meant we had to bring in the big guns and dig down a metre and a half along the front of the house. Everything was going smoothly. It was all quite ordinary until the dog got involved. Of course, rather than keeping her eye on the job she sniffed out a bone or two. Until fragments of a skull started turning up.

Red noses, a seasonal flu, and blistering fingertips. Winter is guilty of keeping our time outside limited to just fleeting moments of building snowmen and throwing snowballs at each other. While children can still enjoy the icy cold air, they tend spend a good amount of time indoors during these icy months.

People say that money can't buy happiness, but those people have never paid an adoption fee. If you are thinking of adding a four-legged baby to your life, please visit your local shelter and check out rescues. There are always animals looking for a loving forever home. If you cannot adopt, then consider becoming a foster; foster homes create space in shelters, all while giving a pet a comfortable place to stay, which means that animals don't have to be put to sleep to make room in...

When my friend and fellow photographer told me she was planning a home birth, I knew I had to be the one to capture it… I’m Kathy Rosario of K Ro Photography and babies are what I live for! To me, there is nothing more amazing than watching a woman give birth, and when it’s in the comfort of her own home it feels even more special. It was pure bliss and tranquility as we awaited for the baby’s arrival. I have photographed quite a few births already, but nothing quiet compared to the serenity...

17 Architecturally Interesting Homes That People Actually Live In

Unique architecture and the way that things are made is so interesting to me. I love seeing interesting homes, and realizing that people actually live their day-to-day lives there. Some of these must have been a total pain to furnish- you can't really have a stunning house and then toss some IKEA furniture in it. The furniture has to be as one-of-a-kind as the house! These houses are architecturally fascinating, and must make for really good dinner party conversation.

We introduce retirement home residents to our very unusual animal ambassadors, bringing the animal world to their world. The oldest person we have met was 107 years of age and she was delighted to stroke Lionel the raccoon, and tickle Vincent the tortoise under his chin.

The unusual home is a 5,000 square foot subterranean villa situated inside a 15,2000 square-foot bunker. It was built in the 1971 (and still retains a 70′s Brady Bunch décor) and features a heated pool, four-hole putting green, two Jacuzzis, sauna, bar, dance floor, and a small stage enveloped within 13″ concrete walls (it is designed to withstand a nuclear blast) decorated to mimic the great outdoors.

Surreal Floating Room Sculptures by Leandro Erlich

Like a scene from a fantasy movie, a dilapidated room that appears to have been literally ripped out of a building remains suspended in mid air above Nantes, France. Its walls were torn apart, revealing bricks below the plaster, and wood floors reveal the joists inside. The floating room is accessible via a ladder. The gravity defying surreal installation is the work of Argentinean artist Leandro Erlich. The large-scale piece, called “Monte-meubles – L’ultime déménagement” (literally - The...
