It may sound strange but it is really what happens in Pennsylvania. See the details below.
The Animal Rescue League of Berks County, Pennsylvania is bringing together kids and shelter cats for the most heartwarming cause.
It's called the "Book Buddies" program, and it's helping kids develop reading skills in a loving, nonjudgmental environment.
The kids read books alongside the shelter cats, and they bond while enjoying stories together.
Many of the cats were feral when they were found by the shelter, or came from backgrounds of abuse
The cats are drawn to the rhythm of the kids' voices, and over time, become more comfortable around humans.
And really, when you have cats as cute as this one climbing on books, how can you not get excited about reading?

The cats seem to appreciate their adorable readers, too.
And they'll even chat with their kid about the subject matter, if the student's lucky!
Look at them reading together! What an incredibly creative way of keeping our future generations loving books.
