You may think you’ve been to some interesting bars in your time, but we bet that you haven’t seen anything quite like these ones. Here’s a list of the 16 most unique bar and club venues in the world that you should definitely visit.
1. Neko Nightclub–Tokyo, Japan
The word ‘neko’ is Japanese for cat. You heard it right–the world’s first cat nightclub. You can visit your feline friends in designated “low-noise” playrooms, each equipped with toys, scratching posts, and catnip dispensers.
2. The Shelter–Shanghai, Chine
The place looks like nothing special on the outside…Okay…It doesn’t look like anything special on the inside either. That’s because it’s actually a disused bomb shelter transformed into a nightclub. It gives a whole new meaning to the word “underground”.
3. Guinness Submarine Bar–Stockholm, Sweden
We bet you’ve never partied in a submarine before. To celebrate their 250th anniversary, Guinness launched this new “deep sea” experience by transforming a submarine into a bar. It has a slick honeycomb interior with LED lights, lots of cup holders, and seating.
4. The Croft Institute–Melbourne, Australia
This quirky bar is tucked inside a small, graffiti covered alleyway. Initially an old mental asylum, the interior is decorated with old glassware, hospital beds, and barred windows. So, check yourself in for the night and grab a round of syringe shots.
5. Sunland Pub–Limpopo, South Africa
Not only is this 6,000-year Sunland Baobab tree known for its gigantic size (47 m wide), but you can also grab a drink at the bar located inside its hallowed trunk! It can comfortably serve up to 15 people inside.
6. Guacara Taina–Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
Also known as “the cave”, is home to both locals and tourists. Sixty feet below the earth’s surface, it has three enormous dance floors in its natural crevices that can accommodate up to 3,000 people.
7. Miniscule of Sound–London, England
This teeny tiny 4 ft wide and 8 ft high cubicle is the world’s smallest nightclub according to Guinness World Records. It can fit up to 15 lucky partygoers on its disco dance floor. It also travels around the world…where will it pop up next?
8. Club4Climate–London, England
“All you have to do is dance to save the world”…literally. This go-green nightclub is using dancing as a direct source of energy. So keep jumping my fellow party animals. You will also find organic brews, recycled cups, and waterless urinals, to name a few things. Saving the environment never felt so good.
9. 1-Altitude–Singapore
Perched on the 63rd floor of the 282m UOB Centre is “1-Altitude”, the highest rooftop bar in the world. If you’re not too afraid of heights, grab a drink on its beautiful terrace and enjoy some spectacular 360-degree views of Singapore.
10. Last Cathedral–Berlin, Germany
If you like a good scare, then his Goth-inspired bar is the perfect match for you. Dim candle lit rooms, skeletons, and “Gothic” music set the stage for a memorable night. Watch out for those vampires!
11. Cantina Nightclub–Hackney, England
A Star Wars theme bar has recently opened in anticipation for Star Wars IV: A New Hope. This interactive clubbing experience allows guests to mingle with members of the Rebel Alliance or get caught up in alien brawls. If you want to join the force, you better get tickets before they sell out!
12. Frost Ice Loft–Boston, Massachusetts
This “cool” ice bar is open to guests all year round! So, relax on that ice sofa while you enjoy a cocktail in an ice glass while you snuggle up to the person next to you (*wink nudge*).
13. Vowz Bar–Tokyo, Japan
Who said alcohol and religion couldn’t mix? Guests can enjoy cocktails served by their favorite bartenders, or uh, Buddhist monks. They can also get in touch with their spiritual side by listening to religious chants. Where did they learn to bartend anyway?
14. Thomas Foolery–Washington, DC
Embrace your inner child at this bar made for adults who never want to grow up. Their slogan is, "Little-kid food and big-kid drinks." It's like a play place for adults to get drunk at! You can sit down and eat some grilled cheese sandwiches and ice cream. Play a round of mario kart and mini basketball. If you order with your finest angry kid voice, you can get $1 off your drink order!
15. The Dog House Drinkery–Seattle, Washington
There's a 1/2 acre dog park in the back and a special bar in the front. Who knew taking your dog to the park could be so much fun? Have a chance to meet fellow dog lovers while your dogs play outside or better yet, bring your dog inside the bar to drink a refreshing beverage after running around in the hot sun...water that is.
16. The Grand Factory–Beirut, Lebanon
Beirut is famous for its club scene and it doesn't surprise us that it has one of the coolest nightclub venues in the world! This nightclub is one of the hottest venues in the city and we'll tell you why. It is situated on the rooftop of an abandoned factory.
