A hoarder in the United States was recently reported for having over 160 ducks, geese, turkeys and chickens living on her property in appalling conditions. While the hoarder’s initial intentions were good, her neglect and mental health issues created an unsuitable and unsanitary environment for these animals.

It all started with the picture above. A friend had emailed photographer Pieter Hugo this bizarre image taken on a cellphone in Lagos, Nigeria. The caption read, ‘The Streets of Lagos’, and a newspaper publishing the photo reported that the men were bank robbers, body guards, drug dealers and debt collectors.

Maja Wrońska is a rising young talent from Poland. In her beautiful series of watercolor cityscapes, Maja brings iconic European cities to life. Her background and education in architecture (her mother is also an architect) really shines through in her tremendous work. She has a keen eye for clean lines, structure and perspective. Located in Chelsea, an affluent area of central London, is a home with a unique feature. The four bedroom, four bathroom home has a top floor family area with a retractable glass roof. The home is available for sale and is being listed by Carter Jonas for a cool 3.75 million pounds (approx. $6 million USD). The first two pictures below show the original design from the architect while the final two pictures (#9, #10) show how the owners have actually decorated the space to be more of a family/living room space.

Joel Tjinjelaar is a fine art photographer specializing in black and white long exposure photography. An IT Project Manager by trade, Joel studied criminal law but always dreamt of being an architect. Through photography, Joel has found a nice substitute for an unfulfilled dream. V magazine, an American glossy, invited Valeria Lukyanova (Amatue) to an interview and photoshoot in New York City. Valeria, who became an internet sensation when she began posting pictures of herself online, resembles a living doll and spends a lot of time perfecting the look.

A haboob is a type of intense dust storm carried on an atmospheric gravity current. Haboobs occur regularly in arid regions throughout the world. This wall of dust can be up to 100 km (62 mi) wide and several kilometers in elevation. At their strongest, haboob winds often travel at 35–100 km/h (~20–60 mph), and they may approach with little or no warning. Often rain does not appear at ground level as it evaporates in the hot, dry air (a phenomenon known as virga).

Perhaps the best place to view animals without trekking into the wilderness, the Zoological Society of San Diego is actually a zoo and a park, each worth its own day trip. The San Diego Zoo comprises 100 acres of tropical grounds and 800 species (including a pair of pandas on loan from China). The 2,200-acre Wild Animal Park, 32 miles northeast of the zoo, features several natural habitats and a Galápagos tortoise that must have been around when Custer was fighting his last battle. Visitors can view roaming herds of exotic animals from a five-mile-long monorail or by way of a walking safari. Designed to help breed endangered species, the park has seen some 20,000 creatures born within its borders—including 120 rhinoceroses—since it opened in 1972. Many of the zoo's younger residents hang out at the Petting Kraal.
