Photographer Trades a Bagel with the Homeless for a Story
22 jan 2013 07:47
Photographer Justin Bettman embarked on his ongoing series known as The Bagel Project in 2011 by approaching homeless people on the streets of Los Angeles with an offering of bagels for their time. The young photographer, whose intention with this work is to "give a voice to the voiceless," would often start by purchasing a dozen or so bagels and roaming the streets for homeless people willing to participate in his personal project. To his surprise, Bettman found that the people he encountered were more interested in having company with whom they could hold a conversation than a bagel for sustenance.

Sex Toys With Ridiculously Ancient Origins
22 jan 2013 08:05
Going strictly by popular culture, you’d be forgiven for thinking sex was invented sometime in the 1960s. Obviously our ancestors were getting it on long before that; Socrates invented Western thought while diddling little boys. But the ’60s were when sex became fun, right? Wrong. Turns out historical men (and women) were light-years ahead of us in the pleasure department, thanks to inventions like:

"The Horror Forest" is Full of Dark Secrets
22 jan 2013 08:18
Argentinian artist Patricio Oliver is best known for his creepy, cool vinyl toys and his futuristic designs but one of my favorite sets is "The Horror Forest." My favorite pieces of art are ones where there is a hidden story - where you can take a subtle detail from a painting and let your imagination run wild. In this set, Patricio takes us into a mystical forest, a Tim Burton like world where everyone is struggling with their own dark secrets.
