Italian artist and illustrator Marcello Barenghi's pieces seem to jump off the page. His work combines the precise detail of photorealism with the slick finishes and saturated colors of comic book illustration, creating attention-grabbing images. And yes, it's all done by hand.

Armed with only paper, graphite and coloured pencils – plus his vivid imagination – the artist creates remarkable drawings that leap from the page when photographed. The 32-year-old, from Alkmaar in Holland, began experimenting with anamorphic 3D drawing five years ago. He said: “I discovered this way of drawing by accident. I always found myself drawing when I was younger and experimented with illusions. I liked how they turned out so I took a photograph and shared it online. I noticed how...

Two Artists Cover Gray Streets With Colorful Character Illustrations

São Paulo-based street artists Anderson Augusto (aka SÃO) and Leonardo Delafuente (aka Delafuente) transform their urban neighborhood's storm drains, manhole covers, light posts, and any other street fixtures into playful illustrations. Instead of an ordinary street gutter, pedestrians are now met by a colorful cast of characters that include the Super Mario Bros., Batman & Robin, and King Tut.

When food stylist Anna Keville Joyce’s pet bird died, she mourned for its loss in a tangible way. She utilized her professional creative skills to aid in the healing process, and the results are beautiful. A Tribute to Budgie is a series of elegant birds comprised of food and arranged on plates. He Pairs Inspiring Quotes With Clever Illustrations.

Artist Tang Yau Hoong created some clever and delightful illustrations a while back, and he recently got the idea to pair them with well-known quotes. When combined, his mixture of words and drawings create a subtle, but powerful dose of motivation. Number 6 is definitely my favorite!

Adorable Illustrations of Superhero Families

Paris, France-based designer Andry "Shango" Rajoelina has created an incredibly adorable set of illustrations called Super Families that show superheroes and their families on their way to school. The first part of his series, Justice Families, debuted back in May and in July he released part two, Marvel Families. Each of the illustrations shows superheroes we all know and love as either young children or as grown-up parents with children of their own. With their backs turned, we don't see their faces. Each character is easily identified, however, with their unmistakable outfits.

The Secret Life of Heroes by Gregoire Guillemin

We've been fans of French artist Gregoire Guillemin for quite some time. In the past, we featured many of his superhero themed series such as his retro-modern superhero illustrations as well as his smooth, minimalist superhero work. Lately, Guillemin has been working on a hilarious new series called The Secret Life of Heroes. The funny and sexy illustrations feature both heroes and villains in ways we've never seen them before. Poor Mickey Mouse looks worn down and sick while smoking a cigarette while Winnie the Pooh looks like he's really enjoying that beer. The best illustrations are the ones where the hero or heroine is acting completely out of character like Disney's Ariel scarfing down some sushi.
