National Geographic Traveler Photo contest is coming to an end, so it’s high time we took a look at some of the best entries. The submissions will be accepted till June 30th, so those who want to participate, hurry up and submit your photos in one of the categories of Travel Portraits, Outdoor Scenes, Sense of Place and Spontaneous Moments. The first prize winner will go on an expedition to the Galápagos with the National Geographics team, while runner-ups will receive the publicity and honor of having his or her photo published in the National Geographic Traveler magazine or website. That should make the competition pretty intense! In order to pick the winner, the judging panel will convene for two judging rounds: 10 candidates will be selected in Round 1, with the final winner announced after Round 2. All entries will be judged by creativity and photographic quality, each comprising 50% of the mark. The winners will be announced on or around July 31st, so the suspense won’t be too long! You can already see some of the editors picks, all of which seem to be worthy of recognition! “Harness the power of photography and share your stunning travel experiences from around the globe with us,” invite the organizers – and if you’re not a photographer yourself, you will definitely enjoy the gallery. Funded On Kickstarter: A Rapey 'How To Get Girls' Book
01 jun 2013 00:00

So I don’t know if you guys have heard, but dudes apparently like getting laid. I know, SHOCKING, right? Because of this, there’s naturally a huge market out there of dudes who have trouble getting laid for people who claim to know how to help such dudes get laid to exploit receive money from in exchange for helping to teach them how to get laid. See Neil Strauss and The Game, for example. Apparently looking to build off of Strauss’ success at tapping into the lonely bro market is a guy from Milford, Connecticut named Ken Hoinsky, a prolific Redditor who posts under the name “TofuTofu” – mostly on on Seddit, the site’s “seduction” forum. Hoinsky, who claims to be “good at teaching others to become good with women,” is using Kickstarter to raise funds to self-publish his p*ssy crushing Magnum Opus, Above The Game: A Guide to Getting Awesome with Women. Here’s his video pitch…

13 Animals Who Are Excited That 'Jurassic Park 4' Is Back On
19 jun 2013 16:51

I’m not sure why I feel compelled to format this news as a Buzzfeed post, but now this is happening. Coming Soon attended the Licensing Expo 2013 in Las Vegas, where they snapped the picture above which we’ve just slightly altered. Along with the Jurassic Park 4 banner they spotted comes the news that Universal has set a 2015 release date for Jurassic Park 4 and director Colin Trevorrow plans to shoot it in 3D. This comes just one month after the news that the studio had put the project on hold and laid off most of the pre-production staff. It didn’t take them long to spare no expense and restart production, although they’re not shooting for the original June 13, 2014 release date. So for no particular reason, here are a baker’s dozen of animals who are various levels of pumped about Jurassic Park 4 coming back. I promise not to add unnecessary captions to any of these cute animals. Also, the source link under each photo will go to the actual place I found these, not a deeplinked image file on some random server which is giving credit to no one. I have so much anger at slideshows which do that. The only cure for that anger is animals in dinosaur costumes.

Who Has The Better Songs: Superman Or Batman? Part two!
19 jun 2013 16:49

Not to be confused with the 1977 motion picture Abar, the First Black Superman, “Black Superman” is a single from Above the Law’s underrated Uncle Sam’s Curse, their final album on Ruthless Records before Eazy-E died. The funky sample comes from the Ohio Players’s “Funky Worm,” and as far as I can tell, it’s the only song that paints Superman as a sympathetic drug dealer from Compton. Though that might be what the next song’s about, too…

Who Has The Better Songs: Superman Or Batman?
19 jun 2013 16:47

Anyone who says Superman is superior to Batman is fooling themselves. The Caped Crusader trumps the Man of Steel in comics, movies, outfits, nicknames, lady friends, TV shows, and dorky sidekicks — but what about music? There have been hundreds of songs written about both Batman and Superman, so in honor of Man of Steel, I thought we’d take a look at their musical history. Some criteria: I only chose songs that are NOT on official soundtracks (i.e. no “Bat Dance,” which is obviously the greatest thing ever), and they have to mention either “Batman” or “Superman” in the title. With a “Vicki Vale, Vick Va Vicki Vale” in your heart, here are 10 examples.

Seth MacFarlane To Voice Seymour On 'Futurama'
19 jun 2013 16:44

*looks at banner image** begins crying In a brief cameo for the animated comedy’s final season, [Seth MacFarlane] will provide the voice of Fry’s tragically loyal canine, Seymour, who was featured in a 2002 episode. “This will be Seymour’s first and only spoken dialogue,” Futurama executive producer David X. Cohen tells EW. “Since Seth voices Family Guy‘s talking dog, Brian, we thought it would be funny to have him blatantly rip himself off for our benefit. As an added bonus, the only person he can sue is himself, so we’re off the hook.” In the episode, which airs Aug. 14, the Planet Express crew journeys into Fry’s dreams to pull off a mission in the year 1999. Sarah Silverman also pops up in her old role as Michelle, Fry’s girlfriend. **continues crying** isn’t sure whether he’s crying for Seymour, Seth MacFarlane voicing Seymour, or both

Miley Cyrus Twerks In 'We Can't Stop' Music Video
19 jun 2013 16:42

It’s well known that MTV doesn’t play music videos anymore. But if they DID and I was 12 years old and TRL was still on and I was the kind of kid who watched TRL (there are a lot of hypotheticals when it comes to the “M” in MTV), I’d want to see Miley Cyrus’s “We Can’t Stop” every 10 minutes. It looks like the teen version of a David Lynch film, where pink goo oozing out of a person after they cut their fingers off isn’t the weirdest thing that happens.

'Animal Man' #21: The Comic You Should Be Reading This Week and Others
19 jun 2013 16:41

"Satirizing" "celebrity culture" is often a cheap and lazy grab for relevance. Throw a few weak jabs at a few easy targets (KIM! KANYE! AMANDA!), bemoan how shallow people are that they follow the every motion of dolts, and collect a paycheck. Social media has made this more intense, and made the "satire" even lazier. Leave it to Jeff Lemire and Steve Pugh to not only take the topic seriously, but make it fresh with, of all heroes, Animal Man. Buddy Baker is in the limelight because of a surprise nomination for Best Actor. He was in an indie movie about a struggling superhero called "Tights", and the nomination couldn't come at a worse possible time. Buddy's marriage is a wreck, his son is dead, he's lost all connection to the eminences behind his powers, and he's emotionally adrift. Lemire and Pugh have been consistently handing in superb work on this title, and this issue, kicking off a new arc, is no exception. And we see some new skills in action: Pugh turns out to be pretty slick with the layouts, and Lemire, in addition to being a great comics writer, turns out to be really good at satirizing self-centered Twitter douchebaggery. It's more than a gimmick, though. Lemire contrasts Buddy's struggles with the superficial and crappy way other people treat it: "Mullet" is a trending hashtag thanks to his son's death, for example, and as he tries to take his mind off his troubles by being a superhero again, we see the... variable reaction on social media. Animal Man #21 is a subtly thoughtful issue that often contrasts the frivolity, self-righteousness and nattering of even people who proclaim to be Buddy's fans with the hard realities of emotional pain, and for that, it's worth picking up. On the other hand, maybe you want to see a dead guy curbstomp some clown zombie midgets. Or perhaps the full release list, at the end of the slideshow.

'Spanking For Jesus' Illustrations Are Very Informative
19 jun 2013 16:35

“Spanking for Jesus.” Say it again, slowly: “Spanking.” “For.” “Jesus.” Lest you think that’s the name of a new metal band that only plays songs about masturbating, it’s not nearly that awesome; in fact, “Spanking for Jesus” is a terrible, terrible thing, founded by some terrible, terrible people. According to the Daily Beast: "Chelsea and her husband Clint, who asked that I use only their first names, belong to a small subculture of religious couples who practice “Christian Domestic Discipline,” a lifestyle that calls for a wife to be completely submissive to her husband. Referred to as CDD by its followers, the practice often includes spanking and other types corporal punishments administered by husbands—and ostensibly ordained by God. While the private nature of the discipline makes it difficult to estimate the number of adherents, activity in several online forums suggests a figure in the low thousands. Devotees call CDD an alternative lifestyle and enthusiastically sing its praises; for critics, it’s nothing but domestic abuse by another name." I recommend reading the entire thing — it brings back mankind about, oh, 500 years — including the CDD’s “Beginners Packet,” which, as Jezebel notes, “is 50 pages long…[and] also includes photographs of ideal spanking positions, as well as of spanking implements, with a list of pros and cons for each.” Such as:

Mexico's fireworks
19 jun 2013 14:40

If you’re a pyromanic, you would be in utter heaven at the National Pyrotechnic Festival in Tultepec, Mexico. The region itself is the largest manufactures of fireworks in the country and to celebrate, each year they hold a 9 day festival. Local and even international Pyrotechnicians create stunning firework displays, competing with each other to see who can create the most spectacular. Every year around 100,000 people visit the festival, the most popular event by some distance is the “pamplonas” (translation – Running Of The Bulls) and it’s one where literally anything can happen. Anywhere between 250-300 large bull-shaped wagons loaded with thousands of fireworks travel down cobbeled street firing off explosive fireworks. Not only do you have to move out of the way damn fast you won’t be getting much sleep either – the entire sequence can last up to seven hours. One such brave individual who took to the streets dodging rockets, flares, roman candles, catherine wheels and fire crackers was photographer Thomas Prior. He decided it would be the perfect event to capture on film, despite all the very obvious risks of being around live fireworks and gunpowder. But it was a risk clearly worth taking, his images are nothing short of dazzling, showing just how intense the entire spectacle truly is. You can experience the full range of his work via his official website.

Moby's Fim proposition

Well this is certainly a nice gesture: Moby is offering a substantial portion of his catalog to “independent and non-profit filmmakers, film students and anyone in need of free music for their independent, non-profit film, video or short” via Mobygratis.com. If any of the music is used in a film that turns a profit, then the proceeds Moby would normally receive will go to the Humane Society. As Short Form Blog points out, he’s not the first to make such an offer to aspiring/amateur filmmakers. "Back in the ’70s and ’80s, novelist Stephen King started doing something similar, giving budding filmmakers the rights to his short stories for a dollar. While most of the people who created films based on King’s short stories didn’t become famous, one did: Frank Darabont, the guy who directed the “The Shawshank Redemption” and “The Green Mile”—both films based on King stories. Oh, and Darabont created a little series you might have heard of called “The Walking Dead.”" Well there you go. Moby is a nice guy who also enjoys condomless sex with pretty young brunettes. For the older generation that grew up with relics called record players and still think VCRs are the best way to watch movies, today’s computers are to be feared, much like the prospect of another Paris Hilton album. Maybe that’s why they come out with some rather hard-to-believe (not to mention amusing) comments. Check out a few things your parents have probably said about their computer at one time or another. 1. “Does my computer come with Google?” 2. “I carried you for nine months and you won’t even ‘friend’ me?” 3. “I’m afraid to bid on eBay. I don’t want my identity stolen.” 4. “I always thought HTML was how Mexican restaurants abbreviated ‘hot tamale.’” 5. “All I want is to be able to turn on my computer and go play Yahtzee.” 6. “I think something is wrong with my computer. It has an “enter” key, but not one for “return.”" 7. “Where do I put the floppy disk?”
