Prosthesis designer Sophie de Oliveira Barata has launched The Alternative Limb Project, a studio that designs unusual prosthetic limbs. The studio offers three options: realistic, surrealist, and unreal. The surreal options could include bionic components, 3D reliefs, or even skin that appears to transform into that of another species. The unreal options, like the stereo and crystallized prostheses of model and singer Viktoria Modesta, can incorporate other materials like metals, crystals, and even secret compartments.
In a special wing at the Art Institute of Chicago, and in the Phoenix Art Museum, are several exhibits of incredibly detailed miniature rooms. Painstakingly constructed on a scale of one inch to one foot, these rooms faithfully depict the architecture and interior design of actual rooms found in the United States, Asia and Europe during the late 13th century to the early 20th century. The rooms were conceived, designed, and in large part created by Narcissa Niblack Thorne (1882-1966). An Indiana native, Thorne began to collect miniature furniture and household accessories during her travels to Europe and the Far East. Impressed with the period rooms she encountered in major museums, beginning in 1930, Thorne began commissioning master craftsmen and artisans to build interiors to hold her growing collection of miniature objects. Many of the rooms even contain period-style rugs Thorne had woven specifically for each space.

Flying is an ongoing series by New York-based photographer Jeffrey Milstein that presents a spectacular aerial view of airports. Like his other collection of images titled Aircraft: The Jet as Art, Milstein follows an aviation theme; though, instead of featuring the underbelly of solitary aircrafts, this series presents an overhead shot of the busy and populated runways and terminals where air travel both begins and ends.
The smaller, the better, in the eyes of Hasan Kale. The Turkey-based artist creates micro paintings on very unusual canvases, including the wings of butterflies, snail shells, lemon peels, and coffee beans. Since the 1980's, Kale has produced these tiny little masterpieces, all of which feature his hometown, the landscape of Istanbul.
Mark Wagner certainly appreciates the value of a dollar, especially in terms of creativity. The American artist produces all kinds of Currency Collages, cutting up dollar bills and transforming them into works of art. The artist is quite interested in the symbolic power that money holds, and so he transforms what is, ultimately, just a piece of paper into these intricate compositions.
Steve and Jeri Wakefield had the idea nine years ago to build an elaborate tree house for their grandsons, Lincoln and Sullivan Scott, in their Dallas backyard. They hired architect and family friend James Curvan to craft a whimsical playhouse with steeply pitched gables, multilevel decks and staircases. To keep pace as their grandsons grew, the Wakefields added exciting upgrades, including a climbing wall, rope ladder, suspension bridge and zip line.

Art is a beautiful way of self expression, and nothing gets people more inspired then personal life stories and experiences. Dumb phone thieves get caught by making this amateurish mistake! When one guy’s phone was stolen on a metro trip, he couldn’t have expected to ever find the people responsible. However, the thieves stupidly continued to use the stolen phone and did not turn off “Photostream”. When the owner got home, he saw the images of the thieves on his own computer and immediately sent them to the police who then spotted them at Copenhagen central station a week later! The owner says: “The dude taking a selfie on picture 7 is the one I clearly remember sitting next to on the metro. That's why I'm pretty sure these guys are the ones who stole the phone.”
