This is the extraordinary moment a group of diners got more than they bargained for when a greedy alligator gatecrashed their picnic looking for a BITE to eat. Photographer, Rodney Cammauf, had just found a sunny spot by the water in Homestead, Florida to enjoy his alfresco lunch when the bizarre event unfolded. The 68-year-old was tucking into a few burgers with friends when they spotted the giant alligator approaching them from out of the water. The cunning creature rapidly descended upon the party leaving the host of frightened diners with nothing to do but run.

10 Weirdest Mario Occupations
24 jun 2013 12:04
Why a list of the 10 Weirdest Mario Occupations? Wasn’t Mario just a plumber? Not always. He flew through space without a spacesuit in the Galaxy series, trained and raced Yoshis in Super Mario RPG, and used a pressure washer to eradicate graffiti and pollution in Super Mario Sunshine. But for the past few decades, it seems as if Mario cannot hold onto a steady job. From first hand accounts, being a plumber is a respectable job that makes surprisingly good wages. So why have we seen Mario partake in so many obscure jobs? Because he’s that damn good. It doesn’t matter if he shattered Bowser’s army, liberated Yoshi’s Island, or kicked giant, girl-stealing apes out of the most hazardous construction sites in existence, Mario can do it all. Today, we pay homage to the overlooked parts of Mario’s work resume as we explore the 10 Weirdest Mario Occupations. Let’sa go!

8 Best Racing Game Power-Ups
24 jun 2013 11:57
Racing games fall into two basic genres — kart games and simulators, and only one genre can qualify for our list of the 8 Best Racing Game Power-Ups. While racing sims try to emulate the feeling of real racing as closely as possible, kart games throw that nonsense out the window in favor of making things fun. One of the most notable ways that kart racers can up the fun factor is with power-ups — those little floating items found on every track which grant any who touch them untold power. Each game has their own hierarchy of useful and not-so-useful items, so let’s smash them all together to compare which power-ups pack the most power in our list of the 8 Best Racing Game Power-Ups!

While some of these franchises seem to be extremely unlikely to happen due to publishing rights, combined with the splitting of many of the studios that made these games, there is still some hope that they might see the light of day. Watch out for burned down home villages within the first few hours of gameplay as we travel back in time to when RPGs were simple, effective, and unforgettable. Shazam is an incredible app for your cell phone that can listen to just a few seconds of a track and give you the name of the artist, song, and album. It completely eliminates the frustration of hearing a song over and over but never knowing how to buy it. We put Shazam to the test to see if it would identify other sounds and suggestion music artists based on those sounds. Here are the results:

Wyclef Jean Isn’t Working With Amanda Bynes, But Waka Flocka Flame Is!
23 jun 2013 11:54
Wyclef Jean addressed those rumors that he’d be producing the upcoming mythical Amanda Bynes rap album, with his people saying this week that he has no plans to work with the actress. But that doesn’t mean she’s left high (so to speak) and dry — because Waka Flocka Flame has come to her rescue. Original reports indicated that people over at Chinga Chang records were in talks with Manders to cut the record, and that Wyclef was jumping on board. But the wheels began falling off when Wyclef’s people told TMZ he never even talked to her — and doesn’t plan to, either. (It’s possible Wyclef wasn’t interested in being called an “ugly black man.”) But never mind all that. Waka Flocka Flame, who befriended Amanda a while back by saying something nice about her Twitter (earning himself a place among the small handful of people she follows), runs Brick Squad Monopoly records, and he’s happy to work with her. In fact, he says a deal is pending and he’s already got songwriters working on her tracks. The songs may not be written yet, but Waka says the album already has a name — ‘Shots’ — and that it’ll be “crazy hot.” He and the, uh, “eccentric” former actress text every day, and he doesn’t think she’s nutty at all, saying, “She has it all together to me. She is cool as hell and ready for the rap world. I think she is going to kill the game.”

Brad Pitt Will Save Us From ‘World War Z’
23 jun 2013 11:47
Good news, everyone. In the coming zombie apocalypse, Brad Pitt – the Brad Pitt! — will save us all. We couldn’t think of a better (or sexier) man for the job. This weekend, Brad Pitt graces us with his presence on the big screen in the zombie apocalypse movie ‘World War Z,’ in which he plays a journalist who travels to different countries to try and figure out where this zombie plague started. And he has scarves! Plus he has that hair and those aviator sunglasses, which just says, “I’m a laid-back dude who likes to go around the world, helping people in need, but I could also kick someone’s ass in a moment of crisis if I have to.” (Brad Pitt is the master of that look.) And in real life, this swoonworthy actor is even more swoon-over-able, as he’s helped people in post-Katrina New Orleans rebuild and offered them new houses. Not to mention all the work he does with his lady love, the incredible and impossibly charitable Angelina Jolie, with whom he’s traveled to many countries to visit those in need. The pair have used their power as celebrities to speak out about real humanitarian issues in this world, and they’ve famously adopted a few kiddos from Ethiopa, Vietnam, and Cambodia along the way.

10 Obscure Characters That Deserve To Join The Wii Fit Trainer
22 jun 2013 23:22
Nintendo finally let us have a look at the next Super Smash Bros. game at E3, unveiling new combatants such as Mega Man, the somewhat unnerving Animal Crossing Villager and the Wii Fit Trainer. Wait, what? For those who have never set foot on a Nintendo Balance Board, you never play as the Wii Fit Trainer in Wii Fit. You never fight against her either. She's just a faceless on-screen figure that guides you through yoga poses. The inclusion of the Wii Fit Trainer in the latest Smash Bros. really opens things up -- fighters no longer need to be playable characters, bad guys or, really, even characters at all! Any tutorial figure or random NPC can be a fighter now! So, here are a few other super obscure non-playable Nintendo characters that I think should also join the Smash Bros. line-up...

NPR Has Named Ryan Lochte The Perfect Bro
22 jun 2013 23:08
Finally, NPR has weighed on on what is and is not a Bro. NPR — yes, National Public Radio — has posted a scientific examination of what constitutes a bro, using a Venn diagram of ubiquitous celebrities to illustrate their findings. It features other sports guys (Tim Tebow represents the “jockish” bro in its purest form), but is centered around Ultimate DudeBro and With Leather favorite Ryan Lochte. According to people who have government funding and nothing better to do with their time, Lochte exemplifies the four defining aspects of bro-dom — jockish, dudely, stoner-ish and preppy. Yeah, I don’t know. Check it out for yourself:

Wilco Played Daft Punk, Beatles During All-Covers Set

There are only three bands I’ve seen live more than six times: Counting Crows (making me the only guy who’s never had tangled dreads to do so), Titus Andronicus, and Wilco, including twice at their own festival, Solid Sound, in West Adams, Massachusetts. I wasn’t able to make it this year, which was apparently a huge mistake: according to Gothamist, Wilco played an all-covers set last night, including songs from the Velvet Underground, Yo La Tengo (who joined them for “Tom Courtenay”), the Kinks, Television, Neil Young, the Band, Big Star, the Replacements (with Tommy Stinson), and best of all, Daft Punk. No one can resist the charms of Nile Rodgers.

Bill Maher Sort Of Defended Paula Deen On 'Real Time'
22 jun 2013 23:06
Last night on HBO’s Real Time, host Bill Maher discussed the stick of sunburnt butter known as Paula Deen with his guests, and unlike the rest of the world, which is ready to place her on a spit with a (chocolate-covered) apple in her mouth, he kind of, sort of, maybe defended her less-than-dignified, i.e. incredibly racist, actions. Maher later asked whether “we should ban rap records,” which is a surprise only because he didn’t say “hippity hop albums.” What Maher seems to forget is that it’s not just Paula’s use of the word n*gger that’s gotten the Internet riled up; it’s her slavery-themed wedding and how unapologetic and clueless she seems about why people are mad. I agree with Maher’s general point that we shouldn’t always purge everyone who does something we don’t like, but it’s not an isolated instance with Deen; it’s a habit, and her firing was richly deserved.
