New Trailer for Keanu Reeves' Other Martial Arts Film, MAN OF TAI CHI (2 photo + 1 video)

Keanu Reeves is all about the martial arts films these days! He's got 47 Ronin coming out, which looks awesome, and then there's this Man of Tai Chi, which also looks pretty cool. Reeves not only starred in this movie, but he directed it too. It kind of has a Mortal Kombat vibe to it, especially at the end when Reeves yells out, "Finish Him!" Set in modern Beijing, the film follows the spiritual journey of a young martial artist (played by Tiger Chen) whose unparalleled Tai Chi skills land him in a highly lucrative underworld fight club. As the fights intensify, so does his will to survive. The film incorporates an innovative camera technology that helped capture the 18 fight sequences, which take up 40-minutes of the film. They used Bot & Dolly's "Iris," which is the world's most advanced robotic motion control camera system in order to capture the action up close and personal with camera moves only possible before in video games and other CG environments. Then the fight sequences in the movie were directed by renowned action choreographer Yuen Woo Ping (the Matrix Trilogy, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon). So we know those are going to be amazing. Sunday, September 29 is most notable for our purposes because it is the date of the series finale of Breaking Bad. That is, provided we all survive until then and don’t just start vibrating at such a high frequency from the intensity and breakneck pace of the episodes leading up to it that we burst into a billion zillion little particles and eventually settle back down to the earth as a fine, sand-like sediment layer on the crust. (Scientists thousands of years from now will refer to this as the Heisenberg layer. It will be totally devoid of nutrients, but if you put your ear very close to it, you will hear it ramble on and on about its feelings about Skyler and what it thinks Walt did with the ricin.) But that’s not the only thing on television that night. Far from it. Sunday, September 29 also features a primetime football game on NBC (always a ratings juggernaut), an episode of Boardwalk Empire on HBO, and a SLEW of premieres, including: Homeland; the final season of Eastbound & Down; The Good Wife; The Simpsons, Bob’s Burgers, and the rest of Fox’s animation block; The Amazing Race for reality TV fans; and the series premiere of both Lizzy Caplan’s Masters of Sex and Stephen Merchant’s Hello Ladies. Now, none of this is to say that anything in that paragraph should prevent you from watching the series finale of one of the best television dramas of the past decade or so. But I did want to give you a month of notice in case you want to send your DVR off to some martial arts master for an intense training program to help it prepare. I’ve seen it work before....

Last Thursday, 8/29, the two culprits were caught delaying the NY MTA services after meddling, or loitering around the subway tracks. Damn those loitering vandals! They were however rescued, and subway services returned to normal and now you can go on with your normal day after having been informed of these dreadful news!

NINJA TURTLE Designs with More Traditional Ninja Armor (5 photo)

Here are a couple of great concept designs from artist Danny Mora that feature Michelangelo and Leonardo brandishing more traditional ninja weapons and armor. We have yet to see what the Turtles will look like in Jonathan Liebesman's new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. If they look like something along these lines, I will be very pleased. I think armor and clothing would give some nice weight to the CG characters. I'd much rather see some progressively scuffed up clothing than pristine turtle skin the entire movie. Particularly in the Michelangelo design, you can also see that there's this romantic quality the flowing fabric adds to the piece -- much like Batman's cape in the comics and the Nolan films. Rarely do our interests intersect with those of Good Morning America‘s (we hate good things and despise mornings), but this is too good, too dare-I-say heartwarming to not pass along. In 2008, while serving in Afghanistan with the Marines, Jesse Cottle stepped on an IED and lost both of his legs. After returning to the States, Cottle spent months painfully recovering in a hospital and was eventually given prosthetic legs. Then love came a-calling: "After [time] in the hospital, Jesse met his future wife Kelly, 24, in San Diego at a swim meet during one of his first outings with his new prosthetic legs. “His personality and who he is just outweighs his injuries by so much that you forget about it after a while,” Kelly explained." They got married in August of last year. To celebrate, Jesse and Kelly recently visited her family in Boise, Idaho, where they took a series of family portraits, some of which show Jesse carrying her happy husband on her back. One photo, taken by ShutterHappy’s Sarah Ledford, has nearly 11,000 Likes on Facebook because Jesse Cottle is the opposite of mornings, in that: people like him.
