Even though Ramon Bruin has a degree in airbrushing, it’s his other skill that made our jaws drop. A Netherlands-based artist creates amazing 3D optical illusions all with an ordinary pencil. As he puts it, trying photo-realism was just another way for him to push his boundaries and add another technique to his portfolio. Combining his 9-year experience in airbrush and knowledge from the Academy studies, Ramon established the JJK Airbrush company. Incredible Studio Portraits of Wild Animals by Brad Wilson
28 dec 2012 10:44
Usually wildlife photography is associated with capturing animals in their natural habitat, but photographer Brad Wilson brings new perspective to this. His series, called “Affinity”, exhibit close-up portraits of various wild animals taken in the studio. For many years Brad has been working with human models in New York and he felt, that switching to different species was a necessary journey for him to take. He says the title “Affinity” refers to the spontaneous feeling of connection that he experienced while working with these animals: “The animals engender an amazing sense of relationship that is primal in its roots and profound in the moment. I learned that they are what we, as humans, used to be: completely present in the moment and curious about the immediate enviroment around them, and living primarily through instinct and intuition.”

Old Folks Love Their Llamas
27 dec 2012 16:15
The nursing home patients at Washington’s Bellingham Health and Rehabilitation Center are visited every few months by two llamas, Marisco and N.H. Flight of the Eagle, who are registered therapists. Yes, the llamas are registered therapists! Having two 50 kilo llamas walk down the corridors of a health-care facility is not as absurd as some folks may claim. Animal assisted therapy has been around for quite some time now, as contemporary treatment can be traced back to 1975 when David Lee, a social worker, gifted small animals like fish, gerbils and birds to inmates at the Lima State Hospital for the Criminally Insane. Over time, fighting among the inmates reduced significantly, and suicide attempts ceased.

Spike Lee B*tch Slaps Tarantino!
27 dec 2012 12:41

Spike Lee has been pretty outspoken with his opinion on Tarantino's new flick, Django. Although he hasn't actually SEEN the movie, he is calling it outright "disrespectful to [his] ancestors." Really, man? It's just a movie. And if Tarantino was really a racist, would he make Samual L. Jackson's career golden with his Pulp Fiction? Probably not. He probably would have used Bruce Willis or some other bald white guy. So Spike, save it.

‘Django Unchained’ Shoot em Up! Oh wait...is that racist? Just Kidding
27 dec 2012 09:34
Instead of tackling the sensitive topic as a reverent and grounded drama, the director, Quentin Tarantino, (in typical Tarantino fashion) positioned his pre-abolition revenge flick as stylized genre fare – specifically a spaghetti western. Tarantino’s follow-up to the widely successful and critically acclaimed Nazi-killing business flick, Inglourious Basterds, once again sees the fan-favorite filmmaker take-on a controversial historical subject: this time American slavery.
