Jon Stewart turned 50 this week so of course the internets were aglow with all things Stewart. Here are what Ray S at buzzfeed calls Stewartisms. I call them jewels of knowledge. Keep droppin' Jewels Jon and Happy birthday.
Some times you are surfing the web and you run across something so hideous that you are drawn to it and before you know it you have found your new favorite dress shaped like a cat. This is exactly what happened to me this morning while surfing the interwebs. I came across these hipster chicks rocking a cat sweater-dress things and the more I looked at them the more I came to realize that I probably like them a lot.
Check them out for yourself and see if this doesn't happen to you.
These homies did not read the guide to developing a great mustache presence and so they ended up with what can only be considered complete failures in the art of growing mustaches. I don't hold it against them as most look like they don't even have pubes yet. THese guys posted this stuff on Instagram as a way to make others feel better I am sure. Enjoy TGIF and the end of Movember.
A group of scientists recently took a trip to a remote volcano in Papua, New Guinea. They came across some quite bizzare animals, such as a rat the size of a cat, a fanged frog, and a grunting fish.
Wikipedia says that a Salafi is a Muslim who emphasizes the Salaf or 'ancestors' as the model examples of Islamic practice. While the term has been around since the middle ages, the modern interpretation refers to the followers of Sunni Islamic movement known as Salafiyyah or Salafism. Salafism is associated with literalist, strict and puritanical approaches to Islam and in the west with the Salafi Jihadist who espouse violence as a legitimate expression of Islam.
So of course the Eqyptians made a meme of it and now we have the translations. Some of this is definitely WTF but it makes for a funny read.
Kuwait City. You heard that right. Kim was in Kuwait City for the opening of Millions of Milkshakes in The Avenue Mall. Shadi Al Ghanim, CEO of Al Recardo Trading which brought the famous milkshake bar to the country, said of her visit: "We're extremely excited to welcome Kim to Kuwait. She has a huge fan base here and we've had such an outpour of support and excitement surrounding her visit."
Prior to the trip Kim was quoted saying "I'm so excited to visit Kuwait, I've heard so much about the people and especially about the incredible fashion scene."
So it only makes sense that she wore something so outrageous and yet somewhat sensitive to the Muslim country she is visiting.
Movember is over so that means it is time to get rid of that really annoying stain above your upper lip. Here is a video that will walk you through the process.
Racism abounds. Sometimes in the most mundane form but it exists. Sometimes it is funny to laugh at what people do or say, sometimes innocently, that shows their racist upbringing. It is important to bring light to these situations and hopefully to learn from others' missteps.
We are addicted to stuff. We idolize stuff. There were stories earlier this year of people killing each other for things like iphones. I mean seriously a phone. Anyways, take that concept to the next level and you have obituaries for random stuff. The homie over at pleated jeans has the right idea.
What happens when dictators decide they want to move? What about their old house, what does it become? The party spot. Just kidding. Let's take a look. What would you do if you found all that space?
Jennifer Foster of Florence, AZ was visiting Times Square with her husband Nov. 14 when they saw a shoeless man asking for change. She writes, “Right when I was about to approach, one of your officers came up behind him. The officer said, ‘I have these size 12 boots for you, they are all-weather. Let’s put them on and take care of you.’ The officer squatted down on the ground and proceeded to put socks and the new boots on this man. The officer expected NOTHING in return and did not know I was watching*. I have been in law enforcement for 17 years. I was never so impressed in my life. I did not get the officer’s name. It is important, I think, for all of us to remember the real reason we are in this line of work. The reminder this officer gave to our profession in his presentation of human kindness has not been lost on myself or any of the Arizona law enforcement officials with whom this story has been shared.”
