33 year old Laura Fernee claims that her remarkable beauty is the reason that she doesn’t work as she was harassed by men and shunned by women in her short career. After quitting her job two years ago, she is now supported by her elderly, wealthy parents who pay $3000 (£2,000) per month for rent and utilities as well as an additional $2300 (£1,500) for designer clothes. They apparently also foot the bill for regular gym workouts and beauty treatments! According to Laura, when others see beauty as a blessing, she sees it only as a curse.

Bengal white tigers of Singapore Zoo
21 may 2013 12:33

I would NOT want to be in the way of these Bengal white tigers when they are hungry! Australia-based photographer Birte Person wasn't quite as afraid. With the safety of distance, she was brave enough to capture these stunning shots of the rare animals during feeding time at the Singapore Zoo. The almost extinct white tiger is caused by a rare genetic recessive gene within the Bengal tiger species. The gene produces features including white fur, black stripes, and a pink nose. The few white tigers that still survive are in protective captivity although there have been reports of a handful spotted in the wild.

No, that isn't a young woman with a full-grown white beard, nor is the image Photoshopped. In fact, that's a cat looking up, right in front of a person's face. This great and hilarious photo illusion, created in-camera, is what's known as a Cat Beard. Cats have been getting all the attention on the internet and now their humans are getting in on the action (with their help, of course).

These playful sculptures are a visual reminder to keep a healthy diet. Each image features the ingredients for a delicious meal, with all of the parts organized into precariously balanced structures. Italian stylist Elena Mora collaborated with photographer Karsten Wegenerto to produce this series, entitled Ricettario: A Balanced Diet. The two artists have created a wonderfully fresh and modern series of still life images that will have viewers seeing their food in a whole new light. Included in the series are salmon, minestrone, margherita pizza, and apple cake. Each attractive and quite unexpected food presentation is set against a solid colored, complimentary background. The clean lines and harmonious arrangements will have you wondering how things don't topple over.

Beautiful sculpture made of sugar cubes
21 may 2013 14:01

If you love sweets then you will definitely like seeing this recreation of the London skyline. Created by Chris Naylor, the piece is composed of 2,186 sugar cubes and weighs almost 30 pounds. It was developed to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Museum of London Docklands. Actually 210 years old, the Museum of London Docklands building was one of several built by London sugar merchants. It is one of just two that survived a slew of massive fires in 1940. The building was recently restored and established as a museum just 10 years ago.

Poor Charlie Brown! He is such a lovable character with a big heart, but he can just never do anything right! For nearly 50 years, cartoonist Charles Schwartz created this little guy, along with many other members of the gang including Snoopy, Linus, Lucy, Sally, Pigpen, and Peppermint Patty. Today, artist Tony Medeiros uses this insecure main character and friends as the foundation for a little bit of outrageous humor on his blog called Paperback Charlie Brown.

Beautiful art by Alberto Seveso
21 may 2013 14:42

These portraits by self-taught Italian artist Alberto Seveso are so original! He presents us with representations of human faces that are scattered across the canvas in broken swirls of color. Seveso is well-known for his many amazing ink-in-water photographs and these are no exception. The base of each image is formed from the process of ink slowly mixing and interacting underwater. In the fragmented ink blobs, Seveso identifies features that become the foundation for his portraits. He then uses his master skills with computer software to merge two photographs together into one unique portrait.

Last year, over the course of a month and a half, Pixar story artist Emma Coats grabbed the Internet's attention when she shared some of Pixar's golden rules of storytelling, via Twitter. They were guidelines that she had learned, that she wanted to pass along to others. There were 22 in all. Just recently, Alex Eylar, aka ICanLegoThat, took 12 of those rules and illustrated them using, what else, but Legos! Storyteller, writer or not, they're golden nuggets of information one can apply to one's own life in one way or another.

Art by Dan Lester
21 may 2013 15:21

UK-based digital artist Dan Lester combines photography and illustration into clever and intriguing images that really make you question what you're looking at. Is it a photograph or a drawing? In actuality, it's both. The digital illustrator manages to bewilder his audience by merging the roles of model and artist into one entity in an innovative fashion. Unlike a typical set of self-portraits, the 21-year-old's Drawn On series depicts the multifaceted artist as the ultimate creator, drawing himself into the frame. His skilled hand is an extension of his drawing and vice versa.

Makr Shakr is a robotic bartender system that lets people order drinks from a trio of industrial robots. A companion app lets people choose and customize a drink recipe from a list of more than 100 liquors and mixers. Two of the Kuka industrial robots are equipped with cocktail shakers for mixing duty, while the third delivers finished drinks to a conveyor, which passes them on to the person who ordered the drink (presumably so that nobody gets whacked by the extremely fast-moving robots).

“Fire Rainbows” are neither fire, nor rainbows, but are so called because of their brilliant pastel colors and flame like appearance. Technically they are known as circumhorizontal arc - an ice halo formed by hexagonal, plate-shaped ice crystals in high level cirrus clouds. The halo is so large that the arc appears parallel to the horizon, hence the name.

Delicious wrapping paper
22 may 2013 13:27

This is arguably the most delicious looking wrapping paper in history. While I must concede my exposure to food-related wrapping paper is limited, surely this design must be in contention. The wrapping paper set was the brainchild of Sarah Fay and Justin Colt, two Penn State grads now based in New York, who together have formed a wrapping paper company called Gift Couture. Last year the pair launched a Kickstarter campaign to help start their company and print 1000 sheets of the their first design, the hamburger wrapping paper set. The campaign raised $16,713, more than double their initial goal of $7,900. A recent surge in popularity has completely depleted their stock and they are sold out at the moment, so you’ll just have to wait and enjoy the pics below :)

Step into the mysterious world of Dan May and you'll find yourself amongst a large gathering of monsters. At first they may seem scary, but take a closer look and you'll find lonely creatures looking to find meaning in this world. The question is, are they really there? Or do they only appear when we need to reflect on our own troubled emotions and imperfections? Dan May is an artist living in Jacksonville, Florida who spends his days (and nights) painting dreamlike environments that transcend space and time. These delightful yet haunting images are often based in personal observations of both human's and nature's relationships with each other, blended with a healthy dose of whimsy, fantasy and cautious relevance.
