The trick involves people signing cards putting the cards in their mouths and with a small kiss the cards switch mouth's. Like all great artists, Cecilia Paredes gets lost in her work…literally. Similar in style to Liu Bolin (another invisible artist) Peruvian artist Paredes fuses together a combination of breath-taking costumes, patterns, body-paint and countless materials to literally make herself become one with her artwork. Inventive, dedicated and requiring a tremendous amount of skill – the following portraits of her work are as mesmerising as they are intriguging. Of her motivations Cecilia says:
I'm a huge fan of UK illustrator Hattie Stewart (after becoming an internet crusader, you become a huge fan of a bunch of artists) and her transformative work. Her idea is simple, to take those everyday cliché fashion / style magazines and rework their covers into an incredible blur of pop culture chaos – previously stunning Photoshopped models morph into dark & menacing characters. Check out more of her brilliant work here and prepare for eye-candy overload!
Here’s a story to put a smile on your face. An elderly gentleman (in the truest sense of the word) by the name of Anthony Pisano owns a curious little vintage shop in the back streets of Manhattan…..at least everyone thinks it’s a shop. It’s brimming with a kaleidoscope of treasures, collectibles, knickknacks, trinkets and vintage items – all safely guarded and watched over by his lifelong friend and resident cat. But it turns out that nothing inside is for sale and that the shop itself, is merely his home which he invites people into so that they can explore and put their curiosity at ease. Here’s what the film-makers say about the entire experience:
In Spring 2010, the idea of The Boneyard Project was first devised by Eric Firestone and organized by curator Carlo McCormick. What the project entailed was the revival of "nose art" which was popularized during the World War II era. It involves reinterpreting the body of an aircraft - a sort of airplane graffiti. Firestone's concept has since evolved into a larger goal in which various international contemporary artists are set to redesign the entirety of old, out-of-use military planes.
Porn for Pregnant Ladies really made me laugh. Metropol Parasol is a wooden structure located at La Encarnación square, in the old quarter of Seville, Spain. Interesting T-Shirt from China, packed in tight envelope. To put the thing on, it needs to soak in water, but after that it takes the original form.
After looking at all the magnificent detail in this sculpture by Shinichi Hara, I couldn't visually pinpoint what it was made from. Given the large white block from which it started from, I considered that "White Dream" was made of styrofoam. When I learned that it was made of marble, however, it almost seemed too obvious. I was a bit shocked at how the artist seemed to effortlessly carve out so much movement and fluidity into his masterpiece. Truly amazing!

A fresh-faced Kristen Stewart makes her red carpet debut at the premiere of Panic Room in 2002. Was she taking fashion tips from a young Angelina Jolie?
Seal flipper pie is a traditional Easter dish in the beautiful country of Newfoundland. The dish is said to have a gamy tasting dark meat similar to a hare ( our Easter mascot, how appropriate ). Newfoundlanders are known for their peculiar tastes in foods such as fried pork fat, cod tongues and fishcakes. But a seal flipper pie sounds a bit too extreme, not to mention cruel.
Visionary photographer & graphic designer Tejal Patni has created a conceptual calendar for the fashion brand Splash (who are based in Dubai). With no expense spared, he was able to conjure up these incredible images which reflect his passion for those classic science fiction b-movies. But rest assured there is nothing remotely “b-grade” about his work. Prepare to lock yourself in for some visual eye-candy, that is literally……out of this world. Hmm. I wonder what he was thinking when he created this series.
One of the most enjoyable aspects of travel, is meeting new people and sharing stories. That’s precisely what travel photographer Adde Adesokan has done with his new (and ever-expanding) series titled ‘The Triptychs’. Why the name? It’s all based around the premise of “Meeting total strangers, get to know them and then take three personality-matching body shots and make them one.” It makes for an engaging range of images, breathing new life into the classic portrait photo as it were. The subjects come from all corners of the world, Hong Kong, London, Sapa, Berlin, Ho Chi Minh City as well as Paris. Along with including the location of each of his images, Adesokan has added a short yet revealing insight into stranger staring back at you. Enjoy!
Move over Lady Gaga, Madame Peripetie (aka Sylwana Zybura) has arrived. The German-based conceptual photographer is responsible for the absolutely extraordinary images you’re about to see. Blurring the lines between sculpture, fashion and the human form, she creates these surreal images – brimming with color, a hint of sci-fi and loaded with a sense of eccentricity & the absurd. She cites her main influences as being the new wave era of the 1980′s, the UK post-punk scene and the avantgarde work of Robert Wilson. Breathtaking and other-wordly we’re sure you’ll agree.
Now aside from being one of the most controversial dictators in modern times, cutting his entire nation off from the world, fabricating countless (and often hilarious) amounts of propaganda and threatening the world with nuclear fallout – more than anything else, Kim Jong-il loved a good party. Here’s a few candid shots of him dropping the bass with Daft Punk, David Guetta, Skrillex, Busy P, Tiesto, Moby, JUSTICE & more.
