Nikolai Aldunin is the master of miniature sculptures – his sculptures are so small, that the artist needs to use a microscope throughout the process. For example, he have managed to engrave a portrait of Leo Tolstoy on a grain of rice, create a replica of a Russian samovar smaller than a sugar grain, make the famous “Kalashnikov” that fits on the head of a match, and many others.

Bibliotheken is a photography series, by German photographer Christoph Seelbach, features some of the most exquisite libraries in the world. The traveling project, which translates simply as Libraries, reveals the majestic interiors of some of the most jaw-droppingly beautiful libraries around today. Though the Cologne-based photographer seems to focus on European libraries, they are undeniably extraordinary. The architectural design of these literary edifices range from Victorian to modern. The stunning detail in the wall ornaments and structure of each venue is all at once astounding, captivating, and overwhelming. To think that books nest in these palace-like buildings seems, at first, excessive but actually appropriate. Knowledge is sacred and greatly desired by all men and, as such, deserves to be stored in a grandly dignified establishment. Still, one can be rather envious of the aesthetic charm of each architectural environment and the magnitude of its beauty.

Artist Mads Madsen has an amazing skill for colorizing old black and white photographs. Even beside their original counterpart the results are impressive, bringing a new dimension of realism to historic images. An American Civil War buff, Madsen’s 450+ portfolio of images can be seen on minus.com where he has amassed over 2.6 million views. Many of his subjects are portraits of commanders from the civil war. Madsen says it takes him about 20-30 minutes for a portrait but that the outdoor shots and images with lots of people and background take substantially longer. The Sorrisniva Igloo hotel is located in Finnmark County, Norway and is 21528 sq. ft. It has 30 rooms, 2 suits a chapel and a bridal suite. Everything in the interior and exterior is made out of snow and ice. It opens in January each year and melts away into the Alta river in Spring. The beds are made of reindeer fur and warm sleeping bags to keep the guests comfy.
